communities.YourconsultingfirmhasbeenhiredbytheCityofTorontotocreateandpresentavisualdisplayofthelanduseandcultural
patternsinTorontoproper.CityCouncilwantsanaccurateandcurrentpictureofthestateofdiversityinToronto,andtheneedsofthe
differentculturalcommunities.Yourjobistorevealtheheartoressenceofthecommunitytowhichyouareassigned,throughcritical
observationoftheareaandconsideratecommunicationwiththepeoplewholivethere.Yourfirmwillalsopresentasoundscapeofthe
community,neighbourhood,andpeoplewholivethere.
Eachconsultingfirmwillbeassignedonedefinedcommunity,whichbranchesoffoftheroutetakenbytheCarltonStreetcar.Each
consultinggroupwillbecomposedofaminimumof4members.Eachmembermustfulfilloneroleandhaveoptionstoshareother
rolestasks.Informationcollectedfromthecommunitysurveysandindependentresearchwillbevitaltothisprojectsfinaldepiction.
GroupStudy:
A)StudyboththeTTCrouteandmapofToronto.Createamaponthepaperprovidedthatoutlinesthestreetsthatwillbetraveled
(fromJonestoOssington,alongCarlton).Mapthelanduseinthecityalongthatroute.
B)Createalegendofcolourswherethecommercial,residential,institutionalandpublicbuildings,openspace/recreational,industrial
andtransportationwillbeindicated
C)Researchorganizationsincommunitythatwouldhelpingettingtheneededinformation(communityagencies,shelters,MPPsor
CityCouncilors,artsorganizations,heritageorganizations,businessimprovementorganizations,policestations,etc.)
D)Planthesurveysandinterviewstoaskagencies
E)Workonascheduleforthedayinthecommunitytogivetoinstructorpriortofieldtrip.(i.eoutlineofplanfortheday,howthe
informationforthevariousroleswillbegathered,andanyinterviewsthattheyhavesetupforcommunitymemberspriortofieldtrip)

thefinalproductareuptothegroup,andbelowaresomeexamples:
a) Jackdawstyle:afoldercontainingavarietyofmaterialsincludingprimaryresearch,samplesandreproductions.
b) Online:thisincludespresentingtheassignmentonwebsite,blogs,Tumblretc
c) DocumentaryVideo(however,thismustbeaccompaniedbysomewrittenforms)
d) Choiceproposeanapproachthatwillallowalltherequiredpartsoftheprojecttobedisplayed.
