ANNELIDA
Introduction
Annelida are segmented worms also known as ringed worms. Segments are
formed by subdivisions that partially transect the body cavity also known as
metamerism. Each segment contains body elements such as circulatory, nervous, and
excretory tracts. Through segmentation, it increases the efficiency of body movements
and development of greater complexity in general body organization through
hydrostratic pressure. They are schizocoelus and with large well-developed true
coelom. They also have well-developed internal organs and can be either monoecious
or dioecious. Members of Phylum Annelida can be found throughout the world in
marine, freshwater, and terrestrial environment. They range from passive filter feeders
to voracious and active predators. Annelids include earthworms, polychaete worms, and
leeches.
Objectives
1. In studying Phylum Annelida, an earthworm must be properly dissected.
2. To study and to familiarize with the body parts and internal organs of the
earthworm.
3. To know about the Phylum Annelida.
Procedure
1. Prepare the live earthworm and dissecting kit and gloves.
2. Dissect the earthworm and careful not to slice an organ.
3. Clean the earthworm and study each internal organ.
