The Beginning of Hitler Youth

March 18th 1922 Hitler proclaimed the first Nazi party youth group, although

Hitler Youth wasnt actually established until July 11th 1926 with Kurt Gruber as
its leader.
The Nazi party had established a youth movement led by Kurt Gruber,
which trained young men to become SA (storm troopers).
Hitler Youth trained, educated, and brain washed boys so that they
would be loyal to the Nazi party.
Got the name Hitler-Jugend (Hitler Youth) in 1926.
Taught all boys extreme nationalism and anti Semitism so they wouldnt
turn against Hitler.
December 1936 became open for all boys and girls if there were 10
years of age.

What happened in Hitler Youth

Physical fitness and elimination of the weak was emphasized.
Children in Hitler Youth had to spy and report on their families so there was

no anti anti-Semitism activity going on.

Activities (Ex. sports, singing, camping, Nazi marches, hikes, and collecting
materials for the Nazi cause.)
In 1936 and 1939 the German government passed laws requiring all
children of Germany to join Hitler Youth groups.
There were around 8 million German kids that joined Hitler Youth at the
start of World War 2.
1943 most boys and some girls manned aircraft guns, served as
messengers, and operated searchlights.
In late April, 1945, the Nazis sent around 5,000 boys younger than age 14,
to fight the Soviets in Berlin.

Joining Hitler Youth

To join Hitler Youth the requirements are to be at a minimum of ten years old,

to have good physical health, to have good mental health, have to be able to
think like a Nazi (to strongly believe in anti-Semitism), and be a loyal
participant of Hitler Youth.
If a child lacked the skill to be physically fit or if a child had a disability (no
movement of joints) then there was still an option to be a part of the disabled
and inferior Hitler Youth but to get in they had to take part in a series of mental
tests to prove they were loyal to Hitler Youth.

Boys of Hitler Youth

For boys it took a lot more responsibility and training effort to stay in the Hitler

Youth.
The boys would have to prove their courage and dedication to Hitler youth by
taking a three day cross country hike and at the end of the hike they would
jump off a three meter diving board at ten feet high head first into the
community pool.
The boys would even get put into war at the age of fourteen to fight but most
of the boys who went into the war died in the first 2-3 days

Girls In Hitler Youth

German girls were not recruited into the same part of Hitler Youth as the boys they were

also not recruited for the same reason as the boys.

When the girls would get recruited they got put in the league of German girls also known as
BDM.(Bund Deutscher Madel)
The purpose of the League of German Girls was to educate girls with the lies of Jews being
an inferior race. BDM was also made so girls could be brain washed and taught antiSemitism.
In meetings of the League of German Girls they were taught to be house keepers and care
takers for the men serving as Nazis, The girls were also to have children and to raise them
up as loyal Nazi children, and help the Aryan race move forward into a new future.
Along side the boys young German girls in the Hitler youth They would join in activities
such as hiking in the country, campfires, and Drama groups (plays).
Like the boys they would join these activities to prove they were healthy and loyal to the
Aryan Race.
When the Girls grew up if they wanted to keep serving for Hitler would become Guards in
concentration camps

Defiance in Hitler Youth

Due to the extreme education of Jews having flaws and that they needed to be

executed as a whole race it was very rare that German youth would resist
mandatory membership of Hitler youth.
