ASSURE MODEL LESSON PLAN ON THE ELEMENTS OF A STORY

Grade 5 Students
Language Arts
Topic: Elements of a Story (The Plot)
Time: 30 Minutes

Age Range: 10- 12
All students obtained passed their last examination in Computer studies in Grade 4
Learning Styles: 100% are linguistic learners, 25% auditory, 25 % visual, 25% kinaesthetic
learners, 25% visual spatial learners
State Objectives

After viewing a section of a video on the plot of a story, students will write a definition

for the plot of a story and share their responses.


Following the shared responses of the definition of a plot, students in pairs will view a

digital story of Cinderella and sequence the story in the correct order.
After sequencing the digital story on Cinderella, students will make a digital story using
PowerPoint to create a twist to the ending of the Cinderella using slides and narration and
upload it on Schoology.

Utilize Media, Materials and Methods


Multimedia Projector will be used to present PowerPoint
Content will be uploaded to computer attached to projector
10 computers
Speakers will be used for listening of the digital story
Internet access will be used for research and class
Powerpoint will used to foster interaction and to publish students writing

Require Learner Participation


Introduction (20 minutes)
Teacher will ask the students to view a video Introduction of an example on how to write and
identify the plot of the story. After viewing, students and teacher will engage in a discussion
about the plot. The students will give a definition for the plot. The teacher will then give them a
structured definition of the plot to write in their books.
Activity (25 minutes)
Students will sign up for Schoology using the course name English Technology and the access
code KQXR9-QDC73. Students and teacher will view a digital story presentation of Cinderella
from the page The Plot of a story.html which will be used to help understand the topic.
Students will be placed in pairs to garner information together from the internet about writing the
sequence of a story. They will also examine samples at

Production (25 minutes)
Each group of students, after sequencing the digital story on Cinderella, students will make a
digital story using PowerPoint to create a twist to the ending of the Cinderella using slides and
narration and upload it on Schoology Assignment Plot of the Story

Evaluate and Revise


Student Performance
Students will be assessed on how well they interacted with their partners in creating a digital
story and a twist to the elements of a story and creating.
The teacher will supervise the students as they complete the writing task.
The group presentation on audio files will be graded using a customized rubric.

Media Effectiveness
Were the digital story and video presentations useful in promoting both online and class
discussion? Did they prove useful for visual learners?
Was the Wiki the ideal resource for additional discussion and participation of the class? Did
students find it easy to use? Did it pique their interest? Did it prove helpful for all kinds of
learners represented in the class?
Were the tasks manageable?
