PART-TIME

GEOGRAPHY TEACHER
(8 HOURS PER WEEK)

JOB SUMMARY
The British Section the largest of 13 national sections forming the Lyce International, one
of Frances most successful and respected schools is seeking an excellent classroom
teacher to teach senior school Geography (ages 16 - 18 years, Premire and Terminale) for 8
hours of lessons per week starting in late August 2015. The British Section prepares students
to take the British version of the Option Internationale du Baccalaurat (OIB) in which
Geography is taught and examined to the equivalent of 'A Level' (UK) standard. Please see

QUALITIES & EXPERIENCE SOUGHT

A good honours degree and UK teaching qualification in Geography

Experience of UK teaching methods and knowledge of UK examination standards

A record, supported by references, which would provide evidence of the following


strengths:
o Inspirational classroom teaching to a high academic standard
o Enthusiastic contribution to the development of department and whole-
school initiatives e.g. curriculum planning, pupil assessment etc
o Innovative use of digital technologies to support teaching and learning
o Commitment to pastoral care of pupils and extracurricular activity
o Commitment to continuing professional development

A spirit of initiative and an enthusiasm for taking on new tasks

Interest in bilingual education and experience of EAL (desirable)

Ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships - with teaching and


administrative colleagues, students and parents - in a complex international
educational community

Good spoken French or willingness to achieve working fluency quickly.

SALARY

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The British Section
operates its own independent salary scale, which is highly competitive with schools in
the UK and locally

The employment contract will be part-time and permanent (a French contrat dure
indtermine). All employees of the British Section contribute towards a French state
pension and two supplementary pension plans

GOVERNANCE
British Section teachers and administrative staff are employed by the British Section Parents
Association (BSPA) which is a French non-profit making Association. All appointments must
be formally approved by the French administration.
