Requirements for admission in principal study

COMPOSITION AND MUSIC THEORY:

Written and aural theory test as in IGP; extensive aural test
Good piano skills: Performance of several works in different styles (recommended degree of difficulty*): Bach 2-part
inventions; a simple classical sonata or a work from the 19th or 20th centuries).
Proof of artistic quality (e.g. by submission of a work the candidates own composition or by improvisation on the piano or
another instrument)
Admission interview
For foreign-language students: practical command of German.

*) If there is evidence of good mastery of an orchestral instrument the piano requirements can be reduced. In this case a
suitable solo programme on the chosen instrument should be prepared.
