[DIRECTOR JAMES COMEY: ... ]

9 As part of our continued effort to
10 understand who might be a threat to the Garland
11 event, we developed, just hours before the attack,
12 information that Simpson might be interested in
13 going to Garland.
14 And so for that reason we sent an
15 intelligence bulletin through our Dallas command
16 post to the Garland police involved with the
17 security that included a picture of Simpson and
18 all of the information we had. Vitals about
19 Simpson. License plates, associates, things like
20 that.
21 REPORTER: So hours before?
22 DIRECTOR JAMES COMEY: Yeah. I forget
23 the exact amount of time, but I think about three
24 hours beforehand. Even though we didn't have
25 reason to believe that he was going to attack the
[page] 7
1 event or, in fact, we didn't have reason to
2 believe he had left Phoenix. But because we
3 developed reason to believe that he might be
4 interested in the event, we sent it to them as
5 part of what we've been doing in connection with
6 the event generally.

7 Even though we didn't know those things,

8 that he was traveling or that he was going to
9 attack the event, we pushed it anyway to them
10 which I think is what we're supposed to do.
