Activities
1. Students will watch the movie preview clip
of Cesar Chavez history is made one step at a
time.
2. Students will read Cesar Chavez
bibliography sheet from the book Cesar
Chavez by Ruth Franchere and use a guided
notes sheet.
3. I will read the passage out loud. I will then
ask students a series of questions about key
facts about Cesar Chavez.
4. Student will raise their hands with the correct
answer and fill in the answers on the guided
notes sheet.
5. Students will write a short composition
discussing why Cesar Chavez is an important
person in Hispanic history.
1. Students will watch a video clip called 1930s
migrant workers in America.
2. Students will fill out the cause and effect
sheet and I will ask the students, What
cause Cesar to work on the farm? What
cause Cesar to march and strike back?
What effects did this cause? What effects
did the fare wage strike have?
3. I will show a map of California on the
projector students will create an illustration
of the California map of areas where Cesar
Chavez worked and lived.
4. Next I will split the class into 2 groups. Each
group will provide evidence from what they
have learned about reasonings for farm
workers to receive a pay increase. Both
groups will come together for a class
discussion.

Activities
1. As I write Key important civil rights facts on
the board, I will ask students what are some
of the key important civil rights facts about
Cesar Chavez. Students will answer the
questions by raising their hand.
2. I will then call on a student and they will
write their answer on the board.
3. Next I will pass out a timeline sheet. I will
place the timeline on the projector and work
with the students to add key facts on the
timeline.
4. After this assignment is complete, students
will write a composition on why is a civil
rights activist is important.
