Competency 001

THE TEACHER UNDERSTANDS HUMAN DEVELOPMENTAL PROCESSES AND


APPLIES THIS KNOWLEDGE TO PLAN INSTRUCTION AND ONGOING
ASSESSMENT THAT MOTIVATE STUDENTS AND ARE RESPONSIVE TO THEIR
DEVELOPMENTAL CHARACTERISTICS AND NEEDS.
My Response: Understand the childrens knowledge in every aspect. That includes
emotional, physical and strategies that will allow the student to grow to the fullest.
Knows the play development of each student. Understands a student from k-12.
Competency 002
THE TEACHER UNDERSTANDS STUDENT DIVERSITY AND KNOWS HOW TO
PLAN LEARNING EXPERIENCES AND DESIGN ASSESSMENTS THAT ARE
RESPONSIVE TO DIFFERENCES AMONG STUDENTS AND THAT PROMOTE ALL
STUDENTS LEARNING.
My Response: Accepts and respects the students diverse background. Knows how
to use diversity in a classroom setting. Understands cultural and socioeconomic
differences. Understand the significance of instructional of varied students. Knows
the ELPS of listening and speaking in accordance of proficiency level descriptors.
Competency 003
THE TEACHER UNDERSTANDS PROCEDURES FOR DESIGNING EFFECTIVE
AND COHERENT INSTRUCTION AND ASSESSMENT BASED ON APPROPRIATE
LEARNING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES.
My Response: Understands the TEKS of learning. Demonstrates knowledge of
various types of materials and resources. Plans learning experiences that provide
students with developmentally appropriate opportunities.

Competency 004
THE TEACHER UNDERSTANDS LEARNING PROCESSES AND FACTORS THAT
IMPACT STUDENT LEARNING AND DEMONSTRATES THIS KNOWLEDGE BY
PLANNING EFFECTIVE, ENGAGING INSTRUCTION AND APPROPRIATE
ASSESSMENTS.
My Response: Understands the role of learning theory. Recognizes how
characteristics of students at different development stimulates. Teachers modules
and monitors, organizational and the time management skills.
Competency 005

THE TEACHER KNOWS HOW TO ESTABLISH A CLASSROOM CLIMATE THAT


FOSTERS LEARNING, EQUITY AND EXCELLENCE AND USES THIS
KNOWLEDGE TO CREATE A PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL ENVIRONMENT THAT
IS SAFE AND PRODUCTIVE.
My Response: Uses knowledge of the unique characteristics and needs of students
at different developmental levels. Establishes a classroom climate that emphasizes
collaboration and supportive interactions. Analyzes in which teacher-student
interactions and interactions among students impact classroom. Uses a variety of
means to convey high expectations for all students.
Competency 006
THE TEACHER UNDERSTANDS STRATEGIES FOR CREATING AN ORGANIZED
AND PRODUCTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT AND FOR MANAGING STUDENT
BEHAVIOR.
My Response: Analyzes the effects of the classroom routing and procedures on
student learning. Demonstrates an understanding of new young children functioning
in groups. Schedules activities and manages time in ways that maximize student
learning. Uses technological tools to perform administrative tasks such as grading
and grades. Applies theories and techniques related to managing and monitoring
student behavior.

Competency 007
THE TEACHER UNDERSTANDS AND APPLIES PRINCIPLES AND STRATEGIES
FOR COMMUNICATING EFFECTIVELY IN VARIED TEACHING AND LEARNING
CONTEXTS.
My Response: Demonstrates clear accurate communication in the teaching and
learning process and uses language that is appropriate. Communicates directions,
explanations and procedures effectively and uses strategies. Practices effective
communication techniques and interpersonal skills.
Competency 008
THE TEACHER PROVIDES APPROPRIATE INSTRUCTION THAT ACTIVELY
ENGAGES STUDENTS IN THE LEARNING PROCESS.

My response: Employs various instructional techniques. Presents content to


students in ways that are relevant and meaningful. Engages in continuous
monitoring of instructional effectiveness. Is there to teach and apply that in the
students.

Competency 009
THE TEACHER INCORPORATES THE EFFECTIVE USE OF TECHNOLOGY TO
PLAN, ORGANIZE, DELIVER AND EVALUATE INSTRUCTION FOR ALL
STUDENTS.
My Response: Demonstrates knowledge of basic terms and concept of current
technology. Applies procedures for acquiring, analyzing and evaluating electric
information. Identifies and addresses equity issues related to the use of technology.
Competency 010
THE TEACHER MONITORS STUDENT PERFORMANCE AND ACHIEVEMENT;
PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH TIMELY, HIGH-QUALITY FEEDBACK; AND
RESPONDS FLEXIBLY TO PROMOTE LEARNING FOR ALL STUDENTS.
My Response: Creates assessment and that are congruent with instructional
objectives. Knows how to promote students ability to use feedback that is accurate.
Responds flexibly to various situations.
Competency 011
THE TEACHER UNDERSTANDS THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY INVOLVEMENT
IN CHILDRENS EDUCATION AND KNOWS HOW TO INTERACT AND
COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY WITH FAMILIES.
My Response: Applies knowledge to appropriate ways. Engages family, parents,
guardians in various aspects of the educational program. Conducts effective
conferences with parents, guardians and other legal caregivers.
Competency 012
THE TEACHER ENHANCES PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS BY
EFFECTIVELY INTERACTING WITH OTHER MEMBERS OF THE EDUCATIONAL
COMMUNITY AND PARTICIPATING IN VARIOUS TYPES OF PROFESSIONAL
ACTIVITIES.
My Response: Interacts appropriately with other professionals in the school
community. Knows the roles of other professionals in the school district and different
levels. Works productively with supervisors. Uses professional development classes.
Competency 013
THE TEACHER UNDERSTANDS AND ADHERES TO LEGAL AND ETHICAL
REQUIREMENTS FOR EDUCATORS AND IS KNOWLEDGEABLE OF THE
STRUCTURE OF EDUCATION IN TEXAS.

My Response: Knows legal requirement for educators. Knows and adheres to legal
and ethical requirements. Follows procedure and requirements for maintaining
accurate student records. Advocates for students and for profession in various
situations.
