COVER LETTER

SONYI SANTOS
Teaching has been my passion since I was child; I have always wanted
to pursue my dream of being an educator. I have been fortunate to attend
Manhattan College and achieve a Masters in Edu/Special education.
Manhattan College has prepared me for my future endeavors as a teacher.
I have been working at Hyde Leadership Charter School for five years.
I started as the administrative of the Elementary School Director and then
had the opportunity to go into the classroom as an Associate Kindergarten
Teacher; in addition I worked with 3rd and 4th grade students during after
school programs providing academic support. I continued at Hyde to do my
student teaching in a 3rd grade general education classroom and a 4th grade
ICT classroom. I have acquired the appropriate knowledge and insight to
work with at risk and disabled student and all students with a pedagogy
education. I have the professionalism and the passion to seek more learning.
I am responsible, use appropriate language; I take initiative and develop
collaborative relationships with all school personnel. I have the ability to
reflect on and act on constructive feedback from others. I seek to expand
my knowledge of current research as it applies to curriculum, instruction, and
assessment methods. My experiences at Hyde Leadership Charter School
and Manhattan College have been wonderful. I have worked with superb
educators, administrators, teachers, professors and, students.
I believe all students can learn, if given the opportunity. I have the
skills to plan, prepare and implement activities based on learners individual
cognitive language, social, emotional and physical developmental levels;
such as tier materials by levels, with modeling and scaffolding. I aligned the
learning plans with the Common Core State Standards. I analyzed and
utilized student work to help me plan for my lesson or re-teaching and to
monitor instructional effectiveness and student learning. I use technology to
enhance teaching and learning. I care for my students and try to have
individual interactions with each of them, to be able to get to know them and
be able to provide differentiated instruction based on diverse backgrounds. I
strive to create an inclusive, mutually respectful, safe, and supportive
learning environment. I have high but realistic expectations for each of my
students. I fostered student interactions among all students.

Overall my goal is to provide my best for my students. My students


deserve a high quality education and i will strive to foster the best learning
environment. Its rewarding to see the growth of my students and to be
doing what I love is what drives me to give more than 100% of me.
