K-2 students need MANY reminders with each direction given. Don't be afraid to go back and review an old game especially if it has been a while since they played last. If you have a student finish at various times, you may need to provide them with something to do while they wait for you.

-Kayla asked how do you know and asked students to explain
how they know. -Activated prior knowledge with pair with a partner to explain the problem. -Thumbs up if you have the answer! -Kayla completed individual check ins with class. -Used visuals on board to increase differentiated instruction. -Used math practice while passing out papers for transition ( count by 10s , which activated prior knowledge). -Used behavior expectation reminders! - Used math vocabulary from past (count on!) -Called on kids to tell answer and explain how they knew, then summarized it to solidify it.
Area for improvement:
Dont be afraid to use more behavior expectation reminders- K-2 students need MANY reminders with each direction given you may need to do a check in (Example: thumb up if your name is on your paper, smile if you are listening, hand on your heart if you are looking at me, kiss your brain if you are ready for the next question, etc. ) Its good to go back and review an old game especially if it has been a while since they played last. Review expectations and review how to play, and set a goal. If there is enough time at the end, have them partner up and reflect on the activity (hand on your belly if you and your partner played the entire time, etc.) If you have a student finish at various times, you may need to provide them with something to do while they wait for you ( math folder work, read, have a responsible student peer teach, practice something on the back of their paper.)
