SUBJECT
Geometry High School Grades 9-12
DATE(S)
Fall 2016
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Students will be able to collaborative construct a screencast of them completing a
two column proof on how to prove two lines are parallel.
Students will be able familiarize themselves with screen casting.
CALIFORNIA COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS IN MATHEMATICS
Content:
CA-CCSSM G-CO 9. Prove theorems about lines and angles. Theorems include:
vertical angles are congruent; when a transversal crosses parallel lines, alternate
interior angles are congruent and corresponding angles are congruent; points on a
perpendicular bisector of a line segment are exactly those equidistant from the
segments endpoints.
Standards for Mathematical Practice:
CA CCSS-M MP 1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
CA CCSS-M MP 3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
CA CCSS-M MP 7. Look for and make use of structure.
ELA/ELD STANDARDS:
ELD Standards:

LESSON INTRODUCTION
Students are given the task of creating a screen cast of them completing a two
column proof of any unsolved question in the chapter. Teacher will provide
introductory material on how to screencast and a rubric in which students will
know what the teacher expects.
LESSON ACTIVITIES
In their groups, students are tasked with creating a script of what is to be said
during the screencast. Students must draft a plan to map out how they will
introduce the problem they are proving and the logical steps they will use to prove
what was intended. The accuracy of the proof must be precise and students must
be able to answer any questions their peers have once their screencast is
presented to the class.
LESSON CLOSURE
Students will take turns presenting their screencast that they worked on for the
week and students are permitted to ask the presenter questions about their
problem. Teacher will assist the students as needed.
ASSESSMENT (FORMATIVE AND/OR SUMMATIVE)
Teacher will grade the groups screencast based on the rubric.
ACCOMODATIONS FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS
Any lesson in the DUP can be converted to the language of the students choice.
-Any page on the website can be translated to a language of the students choice.
-Students will be paired so that ELs would get different levels of English proficient
speakers and will have a student with higher English proficient that speaks the
same primary language.
ACCOMODATIONS FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
-Any accommodations provided in students IEP will be implemented.
-Any visual or audio impairment can be accommodated based on individual need.
