Dear Ms. Kiranne:
My name is Dayna E. Rodriguez and I am currently a graduate student in the
Dual Childhood/ Special Education program at Manhattan College. I will be graduating
from the program this May. I am a career changer who for many years wished to be a
teacher. In the year 2013, I finally got the opportunity to pursue my dream to be a
teacher. As you know, I have been student teaching in your school in a 5 th grade I.C.T.
classroom under the mentorship of Ms. Sheehan and Mrs. White.
My student teaching experience at your school has been an incredible learning
experience. I have learned to take all the instructional strategies that I have learned in
my graduate courses and apply that knowledge to the classroom. More importantly, I
been able take the knowledge I have gained in reference to the differentiation of
instruction and apply that knowledge to the classroom so that all students might
progress and succeed. Now as I come to end of my graduate school career, I am more
convinced than ever that teaching will always be my passion. I have found that teaching
requires much dedication and hard work but that the spiritual rewards that teachers gain
from this profession are endless. Since I embarked on this journey to become a teacher,
I have tried my best to gain the knowledge necessary to help my students reach their
full potential.
I would like to thank you for so warmly welcoming me at P.S. 81 and I hope that
you will consider me in the future for any teaching positions in general or special
education that might become available in your school. I believe that I would be fortunate
to be able to work in such a special environment such as the one you, the teachers, and
