Nonprofit Organizations Commitment to Community

WARRENTON, VA 4 Feb. 2015 Were the best kept secret, and its becoming more visible
everyday. Maritta Gotz, Fauquier County Hospice Support Community Outreach Director
states. Hospice Support of Fauquier County is a non-medical, nonprofit organization. It is funded
solely by donations and grants that help terminally ill patients in their last stages of life.

The Hospice Support group, consisting of 50 volunteers, is different from medical Hospice
providers. Hospice Support of Fauquier County provides free patient care, bereavement
programs and medical equipment to community members from donations and grants. Hospice
Support of Fauquier County serves as an advocate for patients and gives families assistance in
difficult caretaking roles included in the final phase of life. Hospice Support is a welcoming
place for families to receive otherwise unaffordable mental and physical help for loved ones.

In order to provide more care for community members, Hospice Support created The Loan
Closet. A community member can borrow a variety of medical equipment, as well as office and
cleaning supplies.

Anyone can borrow the equipment for a desired amount of time in order to aid in the care of a
loved one. Hospice Support of Fauquier County stores all of the equipment in their office and
also accepts any clean, gently used items from community members. If you would like to donate
equipment or supplies, please visit the Hospice Support office 42 North 5th Street, Warrenton, VA
or call (540) 347-5922.

Hospice Support of Fauquier County also arranges volunteer classes per season. The next
summer class is June 4, 2015 through July 9, 2015. Classes include 30 hours of classroom
training by Hospice specialists in the Hospice Support office. Volunteer work can include patient
care, bereavement programs, mailings and hospital handling, as well as equipment transport. If

Hospice Support of Fauquier County would also like to thank Give Local Piedmont. Give Local
Piedmont has provided donations to Hospice Support of Fauquier County thanks to charitable
community members in a 24-hour donation time span. Donations will allow Hospice Support of
Fauquier County to provide more equipment for patients, and will aid in continuing hard work
that volunteer members commit to the organization.

Hospice Support of Fauquier County was founded 1981 as a nonprofit, volunteer-based
organization. Hospice Support of Fauquier County provides non-medical supportive care to
terminally ill patients and families. Volunteers have 30 plus hours of training in order to assist
patients in living homes, nursing homes, hospitals, and in the patients homes to the best of their
ability.
