This Scientific Note wishes to show the results
obtained jn the chemical control of codlinn moth (Carpocapsa pomonella L.) in pear orchards of San Andrs
Farm in Mala Valley, during the season subsequent
to our first report in 1962.
The most important thing was the use of liquid traps.
using molasses, in order to know the begnning of the
emergence of moths during early November. 15 to 20
days after that date was made the first insecticide treatment using lead arsenate 1 %; two more sprays were
made at intervals of 20 to 25 days, using carbamates in
the usual dosages. The ground equipment was the most
effective. The insecticides were choosen among those
known to be of lowest toxicity to humans.
