My Classroom Management Plan

My Management Philosophy:
As a professional educator it is of utmost importance that I am able to integrate an
effective classroom management plan into my classroom. The philosophy I have
developed is based upon my knowledge of well-known learning methods such as
behaviorism and humanism, my own personal experiences, and my own personality.
As an individual, I hope to integrate both behaviorism and humanism into my
future classroom. I hope to build the basic framework of managing my classroom through
the philosophy of behaviorism. In the beginning of the year, I want to set up objectives
that are clear and will ensure behavioral practice that is appropriate for the learning
environment. Through the techniques of positive reinforcement, prompting, cueing, and
modeling I hope to develop a structure for a strong learning environment in which all
students feel safe (both emotionally and physically), and have the opportunity to excel
academically.
As the school year continues to progress and the students understand the
expectations and layout of the classroom I will gradually begin to integrate more of the
humanistic learning method into my classroom. As a student, I have learned a great deal
through reflective thinking and I truly believe this has fostered the growth of my critical
thinking skills. As students in my classroom establish respect for themselves and their
peers, and feel safe in the classroom I believe they will feel more prone to sharing their
own personal experiences and thoughts. Not only will this foster strong critical thinking
skills, judgment, and creativity but it will also help promote self-directed learning in the
classroom.
Classroom Rules:
1. Respect your teacher, your peers, and yourself.
2. Be prepared and come to class ready to learn.
3. Take care of your surroundings.
4. Encourage and help your classmates
Interventions to Misbehavior:
Have a help yourself chair in the classroom where a student can go to calm
down or reflect on how he/she should have responded in a situation where he/she
misbehaved
If a student is misbehaving during direct instruction time quietly place a sticky
note on his/her desk. This non-verbal cue informs the student that he/she was not
following the class expectations and will need to come in for the first minute or
two of recess to practice that specific expectation again.

Classroom Configuration:

Celebrate Students:
Write a weekly note to each student in the classroom that recognizes a success
he/she had that week.
Create a Student of the Month display that showcases the students academic,
social, and behavioral successes in fostering an effective learning environment.
