Candidate Statement

Molly Craig

The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think


critically. Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education.

I believe teaching is inspiring, impactful, and rewarding.


A teacher is one who inspires children to reach their greatest potential. A teacher
is one who supports, encourages, and challenges. A teacher is a childs partner in
learning, one who allows them to wonder, question, and explore the world
around them. A teacher is determined, passionate, and dedicated to supporting
students in their lifelong journey of learning, discovery, and growth. Teachers
have the opportunity to impact and inspire generations of children to discover
who they are, who they want to be, and how they want to impact the world.

I believe students are unique, powerful, curious, and capable.


I believe each child is unique and has the right to discover their unique talents
through education. Each student learns differently, thinks differently, sees the
world differently, and expresses themselves differently. I believe all students
wonder and question everything around them and use that curiosity to fuel their
learning. Although students have different learning styles and interests, each
student is equally capable of learning.

I believe education is a powerful, encouraging, and lifelong.


Education is powerful because it gives children the power to become whatever
they want to be. Education encourages students to discover their passions,
interests, and what they desire to be. Education doesnt begin at age 5 and end
when school is over. The beginning of a childs education provides a foundation
for them to become lifelong explorers, learners, and researchers. Education
supports children in their academic, social, and emotional growth.
In my teacher identity, Ive chosen to include what inspires me, my beliefs about children, my
beliefs about learning styles, and my beliefs about relationships between educators, students,
and their families.
