Balko, Radley. What You Eat is Your Business. They Say I Say. 2nd ed. New York: WW
Norton, 2012. 395-399. Print
In this article What You Eat is Your Business written by Radley Balko confronts that
the government is contributing a lot of money towards the anti-obesity measure that it is
the inaccurate way to prevent the obesity situation. Balko advises that the people have to
commit to the responsibility on their own self body health matter. Balko suggests that the
best way to decrease down the public health is to put our obesity on our own shoulders
and take responsibility. With the array of food options available to the American
consumers our government should foster a sense of responsibility in and ownership of
our own health and well-being would be the goal but were doing the complete opposite.
With this action in play people will have to pay their medical support which forces people
to take their own health issues more responsible and they will face their own
consequences.
Maxfield, Mary. Food as Thought: Resisting the Moralization of Eating. They Say I Say. 2nd
ed. New York: WW Norton, 2012. 442-447. Print.
In this article Food as Thought: Resisting the Moralization of Eatin written by Mary
Maxfield confronts the solution of trusting ourselves, body, and figuring out the
confusion of our mind telling us what we want but what we really need. The human body
requires nutrients to be healthy and the proper role of our body. With efficient or
insufficient nutrient can source illness and other bodily problems. There are a few
important thing to acknowledge in order to sustain our bodily basic needs, and to allocate
the difference between positive and negative foods that effect our body. Even though the
nutrition facts are shown on foods purchased that will affect our bodies. The correct way
is to differentiate the difference of how those nutritional ingredients will affect our
bodies, either in a healthy way or a non-healthy way. Even though nutrition may not seem

to be a problem but only a few individuals, it should be flipped over where everyone is
concerned about their healthy lifestyle and nutritions. With people not concerned about
their healthy lifestyle there will be a sense of laissez-faire policy which let them eat
Twinkes is a lifestyle that makes people unhealthy.

Pollan, Michael. Escape from the Western Diet. They Say I Say. 2nd ed. New York: WW
Norton, 2012. 434-441. Print.
In this article Escape from the Western Diet by Michael Pollan tells us that there are a
variety of theories behind the huge number of diseases that burden those who eat the
Western Diet. Pollan disagrees with these theories about the Western Diet and that the
health and food companies are moderately to blame. The food corporation is to burden
because of the various nutritional theories that are released in the new products, and also
the health industry is to burden because they also use the same theories to create new
prescriptions and new treatment styles. In the article Denis Burkitt confronts that the only
path to dodge this Western diet is to go backwards to the diet and lifestyle of our
ancestors, which Pollan stops to respond eat foods that are less processed. The
Western Diet is a diet that is easy to purse because it is easier to purchase a ready to eat
meal and reheat it, then cook a meal from your home with the supplies in the house.

Warner, Judith. Junking Junk Food. They Say I Say. 2nd ed. New York : WW Norton, 2012,
400-404. Print.
This writing Junking Junk Food is written by Judith Warner which talks about the
effects of the government that is trying to restrict the different varieties of food that is
supplied to us. The citizens of America is being threatened to have their choice of food
suspended from them and the amount of they consume. Most of the Americas today are
either overweight or obese, and Obama is trying to take action by assessing this problem
by educating children and adults about eating healthy and changing their diet to be more
healthy. During the World War II they took action on getting people their nutritional
needs and psychological approaches. Both nutritional needs and psychological
approaches showed to be affective, because it made the people believe they were helping
the public welfare and showing that eating healthy is possible. Americans culture of food
needs to be changed to have the change of Americans eating habits and diet. Judith
mentions that the American lifestyle needs to be changed, Eating too much,
indiscriminately, anywhere, at any time is the Americans culture of food. Before
cigarettes were popular among the population of America and now are processed in their
brain as disgusting and unhealthy. This also can be changed in the American mind that
fast food, junk food, and processed food can also be changed.

Zinczenko, David. Dont Blame the Eater. They Say I say. 2nd ed. New York: WW Norton,
2012. 391-394. Print.
In this article Dont Blame the Eater written by David Zinczenko discusses that the
manipulation of fast food companies and the food industry has cause the sky rocketing

obesity rate in the United Sates. To obtain food that is tasty, nutritional, and affordable is
very hard to procure. But with expensive healthy food, it is always easier and cheaper to
eat fast food options on every corner. This situation of expensive healthy food has made
consumers lean towards cheap and ready to eat foods that are available. Fast food
corporations also pull back on the truth about their food products. With misleading
guidance the fast food companies are giving to the public, Fast-food companies are
marketing to children a product with proven health hazards and no warning labels are an
issue where more sick, obese children and more angry, litigious parents. For an example,
the information portrayed on the labels of the food are always skewed to make their
products appear healthier than it really is.
