Daily Topic: Baseball


Subject: Language Arts
Approximate time needed:
One 60 minute class period
Objectives:
By taking an inquiry-based approach to this outstanding baseball book, students will extend the reading experience while
accomplishing educational goals.
Prerequisite skills:
1. Students should to be able to use a computer and navigating the Internet.
2. Students should to be able to know how to read, write, and use punctuation correctly.
Procedures:
1. The teacher will enter the classroom and introduce themselves and the topic of Baseballs.
2. The teacher will then inform the students of the goal for todays lesson which is to read and understand the class
Novel, The Brooklyn Nine.
3. The teacher will walk through and explain each step of the Webquest.
4. Students will break up into small groups to create nine trading cards.
5. Technology Activity: After Reading the Ninth Inning, Students will create an inspiration idea map to show what is
in the Sniders Cardboard box.
6. Technology Activity: Once they have identified the objects in sniders cardboard box, they should research the
history of each item.
7. Technology Activity: The Student should create one trading card from each inning.
8. After students have completed their brochures, they will be projected on a screen and the group will give a short
presentation about each trading card and what they learned about it.
