ssproge@asu.edu 732-644-6516 February 7, 2015 Roseyn Hood Principal Higley High School 4068 East Pecos Road Gilbert, AZ 85297 Dear Mrs. Hood, It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as a teaching candidate and prospective member of Higley High School. My name is Sasha Sproge, and upon completing my Bachelors Degree in Spanish Literature and Secondary Education with a specialization in Spanish from the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University in December 2015, I am seeking a full-time position as a Spanish teacher. I believe that I possess the same values and beliefs in education that your schools motto exemplifies. I would create a quality learning environment in which students are engaged in meaningful, academically challenging curricula. As a student from the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, I have gained many valuable skills through my student observations and teaching experiences at your school and various others which have prepared me to teach foreign language. In addition to my field experiences and student teaching with Mrs. Hefter, I have taken it upon myself to teach students English in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I have found that with my background in Spanish and Portuguese, I have had an advantage over others to connect with students learning a new language. It is a strong belief of mine that in order for a student to succeed in learning a new language they need to feel comfortable in their learning environment. My objective would be to emphasize a democratic environment where students could advocate creative, constructive, and independent activities built on responsibility, accountability, team building, and collaborative learning. I believe it is important that stakeholders, parents, students, and I are actively engaged in the community. Therefore, I plan to introduce community and school events that connect our community to different cultures from around the world. Through my student teaching experiences at your school, I have come to admire and understand your schools culture and vision. I appreciate your time and consideration as a teaching candidate, and I look forward to hearing from you! Sincerely,
