What Is Mental Illness?

Mental illnesses are disorders of brain function. They have many


causes and results from complex interactions between a persons genes
and their environment.

Mental illness is all around the world, even at the same rates.
1 in 5 teens has a mental illness. Which makes up around
20% of the overall population.
Only 4% of the total health care budget is spent on mental
health, yet so much youth is effected by a mental illness.

A strong support network is important for all individuals involved.


The stresses and strains will impact your family similar to any other
disease or illness and should be treated the same, with love and
unconditional support. Too often, friends are the forgotten support
mechanisms for those with a mental illness. If a friend has a mental
illness, try to be understanding of what theyre going though.

Help
Mental illnesses do not have to be fought alone. There are many

Counseling services are a great tool to be used, but it is always
good to have a health care professionals help. Contact your doctor and
