Final Portfolio Peer Workshop

Criteria for this workshop:

Read the reviewer memo from the writer first.

Write a 100 word (minimum) note detailing the strengths of each page and areas where it
could benefit from improvement. Each note should specifically address the additional
content on the page, meaning the introduction to the page and the description for each
item. You may also include comments about the layout and arrangement of items;
however, this should not be your main focus.
Home Page: Since the picture in your header is the first thing people will see
when they open your portfolio, I would advise you to find a picture with better
resolution just to make it look prettier. In the paragraphs, I think you have to rewrite it and make it more personal. Throughout this portfolio from the University
Writing Course 1101 will be displays of the various works and assignments that
have been completed, this sentence is an example of what I mean, I think that
you can word it better to make it more understandable for everybody. Maybe you
can say something like you will see the display of my writing assignment or
something that can make it feel more personal. The word specific in the second
paragraph has a spelling mistake.
Letter to Olivia Page: Maybe you can include this letter in the home page or in
another page that you think it can fit. It still works in a single page, but since is
just one document you could also do that. Also, you can reword the first sentence
of this paragraph because it sound a little redundant when you use our and we
twice in such a short sentence. I think that can explain who is Olivia, because at
this point, part of your audience probably wont know that she is our professor.
You can make this paragraph a little longer, adding how did you feel by writing
for the first time a personal letter to a professor that you didnt know yet.
Daybook Entries Page: I think that you need to add a little bit of color to your
portfolio, maybe some colored tittles or a different color game for the entire thing.
I like how you added the daybook entries all together in one document, my only
suggestion in that part would be that maybe you can add a little separator between
each one, some kind of line or something like that. I think it would give it a lot of
personality and it you make it look even more organized. To be honest, I also like
a lot your introductory paragraph for this assignment because you are explaining a
lot of what the assignment was itself. I would like to see a little of information
about the discussions that we did in class for each daybook entry, did you find
them interesting? Was it a good exercise to share those thoughts with the class? Or
you felt more comfortable keeping it to yourself?

Genre Analysis Page: I would like to see more topic related pictures in your
headers, if possible. Your introductory paragraph about the assignment is good,
but be careful when writing because you tend to have a few run-on in your
sentences. I think that you should also add in this paragraph which genre you
chose to study and why. Was it hard to choose the genre? Did you liked studying
it or you felt like it was too challenging? When you say that you found out what
you needed to become a college student in the proposal, what do you mean?
Explain how you felt about your peer review comments, and you can just add the
second draft one time with the comments from Olivia, so you dont have to repeat
the same documents so many times.
Midterm Reflection Page: Add this page to the final reflection, because its really
short and theres really not that much to say about the midterm reflection because
everything is inside of it anyways, thats what I would advise you to do as the best
choice for this page. Talk a little bit about how hard was this assignment to you.
Did you find challenging to reflect in your own work? Was it easier to talk about
your concerns to your professor at this point than before? Also, add if you liked
this activity and you feel like you learned something from it or if it was just and
interesting thing to do.
In class Assignments Page: I like the paragraph that you wrote about these
assignments, it looks very complete to me. However, you need to add the
assignments that you want to show to the world in here. When you do that, add
small paragraphs for each one, explain why did you find this activities interesting,
why you chose to share these particular activities with others, what did you learn
from each one and how challenging or fun was to actually do them. In this page
you can also add a tittle for each activity, instead of just posting them. That would
make it look more organized and will give the reader a better focus to read each
activity.
Micro Ethnography Page: Be careful, you are repeating twice in the first two
paragraph the group that you chose to study, is good that you included it but to not
repeat it. Instead, add why you chose this group to find out if they are a discourse
community or not. Also, you must identify each one of the documents that you
attached to this page, because your audience wont be able to understand this page
of the portfolio without any tittles and without any of the descriptions for each
document. You dont need to add the drafts one and two because they are the
same document than the peer review and Olivias comments.
Discussion Forum Page: Your discussion forum page is ok, I think you found and
interesting way to plug them into your portfolio. However, you are missing the 5
replies to the forums, so remember to add that as soon as possible. Did you
changed the font of the text in this page? It looks like, or maybe Im just confused

but it gives that impression. I your paragraph, talk a little bit more about you and
your discussion forums: Did you like them? Did you learn something? Was it hard
for you? Maybe highlight the most important ones for you and why you decided
to use these five posts and no other.
Final Reflection Page: Like I said before, I highly recommend for you to put
together both reflections for this semester. You dont need to add the first draft,
because you must upload the documents for the two peer review youre your
classmates did for you in here and that will work as you document for the first
draft. In the paragraph that you wrote for the introduction, Through this final
reflection, it will be demonstrated how much growth has taken place, the level of
commitment and dedication and the individuality that comes outin each writing,
you have to separate the words that I highlighted in yellow. Add if it was easier
for you to write this reflection than the ones before.

Portfolio Review: The first sentence of your paragraph doesnt really make sense,
it looks like you have a fragment there: The comprehensive work demonstrating
the strength, progress, persistence and creativity. Also, write a little bit about
how you felt while creating your portfolio, what was the hardest thing, what was
the easiest and the best part of this work for you. Add a little of personality to this
page, so people can see how was for you to create a site about your own
assignments from zero. I think you can reword the last sentence too and make it
clearer, sometimes simple things are the best things when we are writing. Good
luck!
