Performance Task
Name:
Hey grade 10s! Are you tired of being told what type of assignments you will
do, and what formats will be used? I agree! So, this is an opportunity for you
to choose!
From our notes on the cell you will come up with a creative way to show me
what you know about the cell model/organelles and their structure and
function!
But Mr. Waugh. What do you mean, come up with a creative way??
You can choose:
If you like to draw, make a comic/graphic novel, or picture book
If you like original reports, complete with diagrams and explanations
you are free to do so!
If you like to sing, write some lyrics to a song maybe sing it??
If you like to animate with computers or by hand, make a
cartoon/movie
If you like the news, perhaps do a newscast?
If you like social media, make a fake Facebook account or twitter
account
o Look online for these!
Assignment Details:
Who: YOU (singular, not plural)
When: Due Wednesday April 8th 2015
Where: Can be shown in class, or simply handed in
What: Show your understanding of the cell model and organelles, use
the information from your notes and textbook, pages 247 252 and
267 273. Be cautious of the Internet, it will provide you lots of
information, but maybe TOO much, and it may not always be accurate!
Why: Because its a better form of demonstrating your knowledge to
me, and its more fun than quizzes or worksheets!
Once you have an idea, check with me so I can help you sort out details and
help you succeed. Dont waste your time; I need to know what youre doing
by Thursday.
Note on building stuff and costs:
Lets be eco-friendly here! If you want to build something, like a cell
model, you may ONLY use recycled materials (pop cans, a pencil,
packing bubbles anything!)
