CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
A MICROPROCESSOR IS A COMPUTER PROCESSOR THAT INCORPORATES THE
FUNCTIONS

OF

A COMPUTER'S CENTRAL

UNIT (CPU)

SINGLEINTEGRATED CIRCUIT (IC), OR AT MOST A FEW INTEGRATED CIRCUITS. THE


MICROPROCESSOR

MULTIPURPOSE, PROGRAMMABLE DEVICE

THAT

ACCEPTSDIGITAL DATA AS INPUT, PROCESSES IT ACCORDING TO INSTRUCTIONS STORED


IN ITS MEMORY, AND PROVIDES RESULTS AS OUTPUT. IT IS AN EXAMPLE OFSEQUENTIAL
DIGITAL LOGIC, AS IT HAS INTERNAL MEMORY. MICROPROCESSORS OPERATE ON
NUMBERS AND SYMBOLS REPRESENTED IN THE BINARY NUMERAL SYSTEM.
THE INTEGRATION OF A WHOLE CPU ONTO A SINGLE CHIP OR ON A FEW CHIPS
GREATLY REDUCED THE COST OF PROCESSING POWER. THE INTEGRATED CIRCUIT
PROCESSOR WAS PRODUCED IN LARGE NUMBERS BY HIGHLY AUTOMATED PROCESSES,
SO UNIT COST WAS LOW. SINGLE-CHIP PROCESSORS INCREASE RELIABILITY AS THERE
ARE MANY FEWER ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS TO FAIL. AS MICROPROCESSOR DESIGNS
GET FASTER, THE COST OF MANUFACTURING A CHIP (WITH SMALLER COMPONENTS
BUILT ON A SEMICONDUCTOR CHIP THE SAME SIZE) GENERALLY STAYS THE SAME.
BEFORE MICROPROCESSORS, SMALL COMPUTERS HAD BEEN IMPLEMENTED
USING

RACKS

OF

CIRCUIT

BOARDS

WITH

MANY MEDIUM- AND SMALL-

SCALEINTEGRATED CIRCUITS. MICROPROCESSORS INTEGRATED THIS INTO ONE OR A


FEW LARGE-SCALE ICS. CONTINUED INCREASES IN MICROPROCESSOR CAPACITY HAVE
SINCE RENDERED OTHER FORMS OF COMPUTERS ALMOST COMPLETELY OBSOLETE
(SEE HISTORY OF COMPUTING HARDWARE), WITH ONE OR MORE MICROPROCESSORS
USED IN EVERYTHING FROM THE SMALLEST EMBEDDED SYSTEMS AND HANDHELD
DEVICES TO THE LARGEST MAINFRAMES AND SUPERCOMPUTERS.
IN THIS PROJECT, THE YOUNG ENGINEERS WILL MAKE A MINI ROBOT THAT IS
CAPABLE ON AVOIDING SOMETHING TO HIT IT BY THE USE OF MICROCONTROLLER AND
SENSORS. ON THE FOLLOWING CHAPTERS, THE RESEARCHERS WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO
MAKE THE MINI ROBOT.

CHAPTER 2

OBJECTIVES
GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

TO CREATE A MINI ROBOT.

TO LEARN ABOUT THE COMPONENTS OF A


MICROPROCESSOR/MICROCONTROLLER.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

TO CREATE A SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM OF A MACHINE THAT USES


MICROPROCESSOR/MICROCONTROLLER.

TO CREATE A MINI ROBOT THAT HAS SENSORS IN IT

TO CREATE A MINI ROBOT THAT HAS A CAPABILITY TO AVOID HITTING


WALLS AND ANY OTHER THINGS ON ITS WAY.

C. Functionalities

MCU DC JACK (external supply) lets you charge the robot.

Toggle Switch (On/off) turns on or off the robot.

DC jack (Auto Charge) -

Diode (1N4007) -

Battery(7.4V DC 800mA) it powers the robot.

GizDuino 168 - It is an open source computing platform based on a simple


input/output (I/O)board and the use of standard programming language; in otherwords, it is a tool
for implementing a program you have designed. Gizduino is programmed using the IDE
(Integrated Development Environment). With Serial RX-TX disable switch. Atmega168P and
328P ICs are low power but its also the same functions of ATmega168/328 IC.

Infrared Proximity Collision sensor - Detects objects as far as 25cm from


the sensor face. Infrared beam makes it relatively insensitive to ambient light and color (of target
object). Applications includes non contact object detection and collision sensor for mobile
robots.

3 channel Line Tracker Sensor - Designed for Mobile Robot line tracking
applications, five or three infrared reflective sensors CNY70 will reliably detect dark lines
printed over light color surface. Detection distance >10mm from sensor face is possible.
Adjustable sensitivity for each sensors.

Motor Driver Shield - gizDuino/Arduino compatible motor driver shield. Can


be used to drive two DC motors independently, or one bipolar stepping motor. Up to 16VDC
1.4A per motor output drive.

CHAPTER 4

RECOMMENDATION
MINI ROBOT IS A LINE FOLLOWER AS LONG AS THE LINE IS DARKER
THAN THE SORROUNDINGS. THERE S A LOT OF THIS MINI ROBOT CAN DO.
WHAT ARE THEY?
1. MINI ROBOT CAN BE USE IN PAINTING THE FLOORS. AS LONG AS
THE LINE IS DARKER IT WILL FOLLOW. AND YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY.
IT WILL BE PERFECT.
2. ANOTHER ONE IS YOU CAN PUT A ROPE WHILE PAINTING YOU CAN
ALSO CONTROL THE DIRECTION OF IT.
3. IT CAN ALSO BE USE IN CLEANING. JUST ADD A PIECE OF
CLEANING MATERIAL YOU CAN LEAVE IT TO THE ROBOT. EVERYTHING
WILL BE EASY.
4. IT CAN BE USE AS AN ENTERTAINMENT, USE IT TO DELIVER FOODS
TO OTHER PERSON.
FOR FURTHER IMPROVEMENT OF THIS,
1. YOU CAN ADD SOME DESIGN TO MAKE IT MORE ATTRACTIVE, AND
ENTERTAINING.
2. MAKE IT AS YOUR PET.
3. AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THIS, IT WILL MAKE YOU LIFE MORE
EASIER AND FUN.

Chapter 5

CONCLUSION
THE RESEARCHER CAME TO CONCLUDE THAT THE MINI ROBOT CAN BE USE AND
HELP IN DIFFERENT WAY. IT CAN BE UPGRADED BY ADDING DIFFERENT KIND OF
CENSOR. AND CAN HELP IN DIFFERENT VARIETY OF FIELDS.
