Baseball has Willie Mays, Billiards has Willie Hoppe, Horseracing has Willie
Shoemaker, the Government has Willie Sutton and ALEGRE has bravo Willie
Rosario. Modest Willie Rosario will not publicly refer to himself as bravo, but
ALEGRE will! He is a bravo musician, percussionist, composer and orchestra
leader. The Little son of this lbum, El Bravo Soy yo, will confirm this.
At the age of sixteen, in his hometown of Coamo, Puerto Rico, Willie led his first
group The Conjunto Coamex. While still in his teens, he came to New York to
perform as a featured percussionist with such name bands as Noro Morales,
Aldemaro Romero and Jhonny Segui. In 1958 he organized his present
orchestra and has sine played yhe better ball-rooms and clubs.
After listenung and dancing to Willies lbum, we think you will agree that his
swinging rhythm section, his exciting trumpets and his star cocalist, Frankie
Figueroa, are all bravo.
Composer, percussionist and bandleader Willie Rosario is presently based in
Puerto rico. He has had a four trumpet conjunto sice 1963 and in 1967 a
baritone say was added. Willie has excellent taste in picking material, sidemen,
vocalists and arrangers. We have chosen what we consider the best of his
repertoire for this lbum. Besides the vocalists mentioned above his colleagues
over the years include Bobby, Valentin. Louie Ramirez, Louis Cruz, Tony Cofresi,
Larry Spencer, Bomberito. Johnny Rodriguez, Victor Venegas, Paquito Pastor
and Papo Pepin. The band is well rehearsed and tight, brassy but always with
authentic rhythms. Willie prefers progressive arrangements but still maintains a
tpico sound. As a timbalero, he is proficient and confortable in any setting
from big-band and conjunto to combo or quintette. He has played as a sideman
with Johnny Segui. Noro Morales, Aldemaro Romero, Herbie Mann and also the
Alegre All Stars. The recordings with his own orchestra are as varied as the
compositions of Miguel Matamoros are to those of Gato Barbieri and Willie
has recorded both. Our campanero rumbero is a master of all Latin rhythms but
we have included in this lbum only the up-tempo rhythms preferred by the
majority of Willies fans: guarachas, mambos, son-montunos and guaguancs.

It is unfortunate that succes usually measured in monetary to how much
money a man a rather tan his personal accomplishments in his seem to
determine his succes, however, it can be measured in terms of ability, one of
Latin musics must successful artists is Willie Rosario, musician and bandleader.
A talented percussionist, Willie has been playing for a good number of years,
and formed his own band in 1960. An impressive looking man, Willie has one of
these rare and refined cultured personalities that rather forces you to seek him
out instead of his pushing himself to you attention. It is this very facet of his

nature that has so many times brought him close to grat succes and, in as
many instances, caused him to go almost unnoticed.
Willie has turned out some excellent recordings that almost, but not quite,
brought him the notoriety he deserves; never for lack of ability, but perhaps for
lack of someone to give that ability the Little extra push necessary to send an
artist to the top. This very lbum will ilustrate what a wealth of musical talent
abounds in Willi Rosario and his orchestra. Willie plays a style of typical Latin
called tpico, with the slightest hint of jazz added for spice. He is further
insistent that above all else, his music be danceable. The band is featured in
New York at many of the most popular nightclubs and weekend dances, and
has played around the country in Boston, Chicago and California; also as far
away as Puerto Rico and Venezuela. They have nomerous TV appearences to
their credit. This new lbum emphasizes the latest trends in Latin music;
namely boogaloo and Guaguanco rhythms.
If merit awards for good, danceable, original, exciting Latin music are in order,

The music industry is a very fickle place. Quite osten is judged by What did he
do today? Now today is a very short of time. Soon it gives way to
tomorrow and joins the million of ysterdays. How a person navigates this
unceasing current of time is the yardstick by which he may be measured.
Willie Rosario has been a succesful adventurer on this musical river since the
age of sixteen, when he led his first band Conjunto Coamex, in his hometown
coomo, puerto rico. Before reaching twenty years of age, he moved to New York
joining as a percussionist the established bands of Noro Morales, Aldemaro
Roero and Johnny Segui.
But Willie is a leader, and after paying his musical dues, he launched in 1958
his own aggregation. Willie Rosario y su Orchesta, in the early 60s. he
recorded this lbum (today a collectors tem) that earned his group the
reputation as one of the fightest and most organized orchestras on the latin
scene.
We have a penchant as living things to move, change: to seek and explore for
such i sour nature. Latin dance music reflects this trends as we move from era
to era: the rumba, tha mambo, the cha-cha-cha, the cachanga, the boogaloo.
Through these musical bobbing corks. Willie Rosario has steered a today
course straight to our hearts, minds and soul. Hes done this year after year by
recording and performing music that cant be ignored by our bodies, true
indicators of a musics efficacy- to dance, sing along, top your feet, to respond
to what is being Heard.
In this lbum, Willie Rosario flies his colors as a master of material and
personnel. He brought aboard his orchestral ship the then unknown voice of
Frankie Figueroa, previously a conga player. And Willie wasnt wrong as we hear

Frankies strong baritone voice surge with power and conviction along with the
excellent rhythm section and trumpets.

excessive fanfare and an abundance of a very Deep and serious commitment

como "bravo", pero Alegre! l es un lder "bravo" msico, percusionista,
compositor y orquesta. El pequeo hijo de este lbum, "yo El Bravo Soy", lo
confirmar.
A la edad de diecisis aos, en su ciudad natal de Coamo, Puerto Rico, Willie
llev a su primer grupo "El Conjunto Coamex". Aunque todava en su
adolescencia, lleg a Nueva York para realizar como percusionista ofrecido con
estas bandas de nombres como Noro Morales, Aldemaro Romero y Jhonny
Segu. En 1958 organiz su presente orquesta y ha jugado sine yhe mejores
salones de baile y clubes.
Despus de escuchar y bailar al lbum de Willie, creemos que estar de
acuerdo en que su seccin de ritmo oscilante, sus trompetas emocionantes y
su vocalista estrella, Frankie Figueroa, son todos "bravo".
Compositor, percusionista y director de orquesta de Willie Rosario se basa
actualmente en Puerto Rico. Ha tenido cuatro trompeta conjunto SICE 1963 y
en 1967 se aadi una voz de bartono. Willie tiene excelente gusto en la
seleccin de materiales, acompaantes musicales, cantantes y arreglistas.
Hemos elegido lo que consideramos lo mejor de su repertorio para este lbum.
Adems de los cantantes mencionados anteriormente sus colegas en los
ltimos aos incluyen Bobby Valentn. Louie Ramrez, Luis Cruz, de Tony
Cofres, Larry Spencer, "Bomberito". Johnny Rodrguez, Vctor Venegas, Paquito
Pastor y Papo Pepn. La banda est bien ensayado y apretado, estridente pero
siempre con ritmos autnticos. Willie prefiere arreglos progresivos pero todava
mantiene un sonido "tpico". Como timbalero, que es competente y confortable
en cualquier entorno de las grandes bandas y conjunto de combo o quinteto.
Ha tocado como acompaante con Johnny Segui. Noro Morales, Aldemaro
Romero, Herbie Mann y tambin la Alegre All Stars. Las grabaciones con su
propia orquesta son tan variadas como las composiciones de Miguel Matamoros
son a los de Gato Barbieri ... y Willie ha grabado tanto. Nuestra rumbero
campanero es un maestro de todos los ritmos latinos, pero hemos incluido en
este lbum slo los ritmos up-tempo preferidos por la mayora de los fans de

Willie: guarachas, mambos, hijo-montunos y guaguancs. Pues un campanear y

Es lamentable que la sucesin generalmente miden en monetaria a la cantidad
de dinero a un hombre un lugar TAN sus logros personales en su parecer para
determinar su xito, sin embargo, se pueden medir en trminos de capacidad,
uno de mosto artistas exitosos de la msica latina es Willie Rosario , msico y
director de orquesta. Un percusionista talentoso, Willie ha estado jugando a un
buen nmero de aos, y form su propia banda en 1960. Un hombre de
aspecto impresionante, Willie tiene una de estas raras y refinadas
personalidades cultas que ms te obliga a buscarlo en lugar de su empuje a ti
atencin. Es esta misma faceta de su naturaleza que ha tantas veces lo acerc
a Grat xito y, en tantos casos, le hizo pasar sin pena ni gloria.
Willie ha resultado algunos excelentes grabaciones que casi, pero no del todo,
le llevaron la notoriedad que se merece; nunca por falta de capacidad, pero tal
vez por falta de alguien para darle esa capacidad la Pequea impulso adicional
necesario enviar un artista a la cima. Este lbum ser muy ilustrar lo que una
gran cantidad de talento musical abunda en Willi Rosario y su orquesta. Willie
juega un estilo de tpica latina llamada "tpico", con el menor atisbo de jazz
aadido para especias. l es ms insistente que por encima de todo, su msica
sea bailable. La banda se present en Nueva York en muchas de las discotecas
ms populares y bailes de fin de semana, y ha jugado en todo el pas en
Boston, Chicago y California; tambin tan lejos como Puerto Rico y Venezuela.
Tienen apariciones de televisin nomerous en su haber. Este nuevo lbum
destaca las ltimas tendencias de la msica latina; a saber, "boogaloo" y
ritmos "Guaguanc".

La industria de la msica es un lugar muy voluble. Osten Bastante es juzgado
por "Qu hizo hoy?" Ahora "hoy" es un muy corto de tiempo. Pronto se da
paso a la "maana" y se une al milln de "ysterdays". Cmo una persona
navega esta corriente incesante de tiempo es el criterio por el cual se puede
medir.
Willie Rosario ha sido un aventurero acertado en este ro musical desde la edad
de diecisis aos, cuando llev a su primera banda "Conjunto Coamex", en su
coomo ciudad natal, Puerto Rico. Antes de llegar a los veinte aos de edad, se
mud a Nueva York unirse como percusionista las bandas establecidas de Noro
Morales, Aldemaro Roero y Johnny Segui.
Pero Willie es un lder, y despus de pagar sus cuotas musicales, lanz en 1958
su propia agrupacin. "Willie Rosario y su Orquesta", en los aos 60. grab este

lbum (hoy ... una pieza de coleccin) que gan su grupo de la reputacin
como "... una de las orquestas fightest y ms organizados en la escena latina".
Tenemos una aficin como los seres vivos para mover, cambiar: para buscar y
explorar para tal i naturaleza agria. Msica bailable latina refleja esta tendencia
al pasar de una poca a otra: la rumba, Tha mambo, el cha-cha-cha, el
cachanga, el boogaloo. A travs de estos musicales "corchos flotando". Willie
Rosario ha dirigido un curso hoy directamente a nuestros corazones, mentes y
almas. Lo ha hecho este ao tras ao mediante la grabacin y realizacin de la
msica que no puede ser ignorada por nuestros cuerpos, los verdaderos
indicadores de una de eficacia- para bailar, cantar msica, arriba sus pies, para
responder a lo que se est escuchando.
En este lbum, Willie Rosario vuela sus colores como un maestro de material y
personal. l trajo a bordo de su nave orquestal la voz entonces desconocido de
Frankie Figueroa, previamente conguero. Y Willie no estaba mal como
escuchamos fuerte oleaje voz de bartono de Frankie con poder y conviccin,
junto con la seccin de trompetas y ritmo excelente.
Y Willie no estaba equivocado cuando grab "E Bravo Soy Yo", "Dame Amor
morenita tu" y "bonito Guaguanc". Al enterarse de que encontrars un mnimo
de fanfarria excesiva y una abundancia de un compromiso muy profundo y
grave para un buen tiempo ... a tiempo feliz hoy. Willie Rosario est bien
anclada en la industria de la msica latina lo hizo l hoy? Por qu,
simplemente marque con el ayer y el maana y recoge este lbum. Se tiene la
