Cavite (Filipino: Lalawigan ng Cavite; Tagalog pronunciation: [kabite]; Chabacano: Provincia de Cavite), is

a province in the Philippineslocated on the southern shores of Manila Bay in

the Calabarzon region on Luzon island. It is one of the most industrialized and one of the fastest
growing provinces in the country because of its close proximity to Metro Manila, located just 14
kilometers (8.7 mi) south of the capital.
For over 300 years, the province has been known as the "Historical Capital of the Philippines" and
was the cradle of the Philippine Revolution, the renouncement of Spanish colonial control, which
culminated in the Philippine Declaration of Independence on June 12, 1898 in Kawit, Cavite.
