FHS 2620 Activity/ Lesson Plan Evaluation

PART 2: SELF EVAUATION

Spring 2014
Student Name: ___Alexis Rowland _____
Lesson Plan Title: ____Art/Group Plan______
Dates Activities were implemented: ___2/11 / 2/13___
Childrens Participation:
1. 1. Describe specific examples of engagement of children (i.e. who participated, specific social experiences,
comments on activities from the children, creative responses and use of materials, etc.) on the first day. Do the
same for the second day. Reflect on this information.
All children except for Zaria participated during my group activity. The kids really enjoyed being able to be
creative with finding items for the scavenger hunt. Max picked k but brought back a cupcake. I told him the
sound was the same but the letter was wrong. He proudly announced, It comes from the k-k-kitchen. Jackson
had a j and came back with a tiger. When I asked if the letter sound for j-j-J was the same sound as t-t-tiger he
told me the tiger lives in the j-j-jungle, which starts with a J like Jackson.
What Children Learned:
1. Describe what children said or did in the activities to demonstrate that they were learning? Then, how did
the learning change from Day 1 to Day 2?
The children really noticed that the colors would mix together to make new colors. They were fascinated by this
and hadnt noticed it much on day one, but loved it on day 2.
2. Describe how the children met/did not meet your behavioral objectives for this Lesson/Activity Plan:
BO #1: 6/16 children were able to recognize a pattern.
BO#2: All children were able to identify what letter their name starts with, though some pointed at the board
instead of saying it out loud.
BO#3: The children all really struggled with being able to point out a pattern in the room. They could
distinguish the patterns I provided, but none in the classroom.
3. How will this information on learning and objectives impact your future plans:
Textures and patterns are things this class is struggling to understand. I would do a different feeling board so
that they could FEEL the difference. Pattern work needs to be more simple in the future. It looks like the kids
also only know their first names and struggle with their last names.
Teaching Effectiveness:
1. Was the activity carried out as planned? What changes to your plan were made and why? Did the changes
enhance or detract from the activity?
The group time went as planned. The bubble wrap tangled and then become paint blotters instead of rollers, the
string became something to make designs with.
2. Describe and explain the strengths of your Activity Lesson Plan and implementation:

I feel like having something for them to do during group time was helpful. I had something that kept the children
engaged while the discussion was going on. Plus having only one child at a time explore the room, helped to
control the classroom.
3. Describe and explain the areas for improvements in your Activity Lesson Plan and implementation:
I need to have more than just 4 available so I dont have to waste time trying to get things ready when one child is
finished and another one wants to start.
4. Reflect on your teaching experience. What did YOU learn from this activity?
To have multiple items at the ready is necessary.
5. Describe and analyze the documentation that you collected (attach all documentation to this form):
Attached pictures.
Attached tally sheet of which children could recognize a pattern.
Attached list of children able to recognize their name.
