that while other countries fight over ecology versus energy demands Africa is fighting
over the need for water. Water is the most important thing in life needing to survive
second only to air, and Africans are in lack of it. Every one in nine do not have access to
clean water and there is no substitute for it. Population is vastly rising throughout Africa
and that is only making the demand for clean water greater. Claudia Ringler states that
water availability is not that bad in Ethiopia and Somalia; its just the water is not getting
to where it has to be.

challenge to families of the fact that they could not have clean water for that day. But not
just that, African families could go days, even weeks, without having sanitary water to
drink. There is water throughout Africa but the problem is in many cases, the water is
contaminated. The contamination can bring upon the human body many diseases and can
even cause death.

has had a water shortage. Through this period they have little to no water and have been
forced to drink unsafe water. Residents say that the decision is becoming vital to be
resolved as soon as possible. The residents have had to take water from a dam, and
Zuleikha has warned them that it could lead to another disease outbreak. Many
government officials in Kinango have tap water, and Zuleikha states that the government
should provide the help quickly.

cholera. He describes that its a disease found in unsanitary water, and is very deadly. He
states that it must be treated that way they can avoid more people being affected. Its a
deadly disease and has began to spread throughout Africa. Cholera must be prevented as
it will only get worse.

Greenland to Africa. This iceberg could provide clean water that African Americans so
desperately need. A heavy-duty tugboat would pull a 7-million-ton all the way to Africa
in about 140 days. Mougin has calculated that the expedition would cost roughly $11.5
million from Greenland to the Canary Islands. This iceberg would provide 35,000
Africans with clean drinking water for one whole year.
