Abortion What is it? Abortion is the termination of pregnancy by the

removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo before viability. Abortion is
a controversial issue affecting our society. Many people feel that abortion is evil
because it is killing an unborn child. Killing an innocent child is unethical especially
the way procedures are done.
The debate over whether or not abortion should be a legal option continues to
divide Americans long after the US Supreme Courts 7-2 decision on Roe v.
Wade declared the procedure a "fundamental right" on Jan. 22, 1973. Some will
concede that every abortion kills an innocent human being. They will also concede
that society has a right to outlaw choices that harm innocent human beings. But even
after conceding those points, some still do not favor more stringent abortion laws
because they think that they don't really work - there would still be too many
abortions. Historical data, morality, and basic legal theory prove this line of thinking
to be false.
In both public and private debate, arguments presented in favor of or against
abortion access focus on either the moral permissibility of an induced abortion, or
justification of laws permitting or restricting abortion. Abortion debates, especially
pertaining to abortion laws, are often spearheaded by groups advocating one of these
two positions. Anti-abortion groups who favor greater legal restrictions on abortion,
including complete prohibition, most often describe themselves as "pro-life" while
abortion rights groups who are against such legal restrictions describe themselves as
"pro-choice". Generally, the former position argues that a human fetus is a human
being with a right to live, making abortion morally the same as murder. The latter
position argues that a woman has certain reproductive rights, especially the choice
whether or not to carry a pregnancy to term.
On average, women give at least 3 reasons for choosing abortion: 3/4 say that
having a baby would interfere with work, school or other responsibilities; about 3/4
say they cannot afford a child; and 1/2 say they do not want to be a single parent or
are having problems with their husband or partner (AGI).Only 12% of women
included a physical problem with their health among reasons for having an abortion
(National Abortion Federation).One per cent of aborting women reported that they
were the survivors of rape (NAF). 89-92% of all abortions happen during the first
trimester, prior to the 13th week of gestation (AGI/CDC).In 2010, 6.9% of all
abortions were performed at 14-20 weeks' gestation; 1.2% was performed at 21

weeks' gestation (CDC). At current rates, nearly one-third of American women will
have an abortion (AGI).
Every new life begins at conception. This is an irrefutable fact of biology. It is
true for animals and true for humans. When considered alongside the law of
biogenesis that every species reproduces after its own kind we can draw only one
conclusion in regard to abortion: every single abortion ends the life of an innocent
human being. To end an innocent child's life using rather horrific procedures is not
only unethical for the doctors to perform, but is morally wrong. Think about it, to kill
someone is murder but abortion isnt? What kind of world do we live in where a
person goes to jail for murdering another, but no one is put away for getting an
abortion. Its completely unjustified for women to kill an innocent baby just because
of something they did. Now I am not saying women who get an abortion should go to
jail, but I am saying outlawing abortion would save the lives of unborn children all
around the country.
There are people who are for abortion, though mostly women. As to why one
would get an abortion is ones own reason, whether personal or common, it is their
decision. Most would say its a wrong decision as would I but we can do nothing
about it when there were so many unborn young who are already gone. Of course
whoever condones that abortion is a good thing; do not know the negative sides to it.
Most women who get abortions spontaneously because they either dont want a
child or cant have one (not in the sense that their uterus does not function) but that
shouldnt be enough reason to end a life for ones own selfishness. After the Murder Is
done they forget or remember that day for the rest of their life. Some of these women
go through life wondering what happened if I had my child? He/She would be This
old today I wouldve named Him/Her This and many other theoretical simulation
types like these. Imagine after a certain point they regretted it so much they wanted
their life to end for this. Imagine the child felt when he or she died, and how they
suffered most likely. I know its a whole lot of imagining but it helps prove my point
so deal.
I remember reading this one story about abortion. Instead of the mother though
it was the child! I remember the baby talked about how she was growing and she
couldnt wait to meet her mom. Throughout the story it talked about all the changes
and stages the baby went through up to her death. It was a very moving story and
made me think what a horrific was to die, no one should have to go through it even if
it was an unborn child who couldnt speak for itself. The only lines I could remember
that will permanently stick with me are Ouch mommy, whats happening what are

you doing to me? It really hurts I dont like it get it out of me well mommy Im in a
better place I know this is what you wanted for me and I love you and miss you
mommy these words that werent the exact words of an aborted child doesnt
mean thats most likely what one or more of those children were thinking.
So for all the people who are for abortion I would tell them that its your
opinion though opinions are neither right nor wrong it doesnt make killing a child
any less right than your opinion. Abortion should NEVER be an option no matter
what. I feel it really should be illegal as I hope everyone else should too, but thats not
for me to say what you can and cant believe in. Im just merely expressing my
opinion on abortion and how it is very horrible. I hope I have shed light on the
negatives of abortion, if not I truly apologize for wasted time. Thank you.
