EQUIPMENT: 32 bean bags, 15 hula hoops, 30-40 flying disks, boom box, music cd (iPod or iPod
player), yarn balls
OBJECTIVES: Students will
1. Apply fundamental skills in a unique situation
2. Learn and practice personal social skills
3. Work cooperatively in a group setting
CALIFORNIA PE STANDARDS:
Introductory Activity:
1.8 Roll a ball for accuracy towards a target.
4.3 Explain the purpose of warming up before physical activity and cooling down after physical
activity.
Fitness Activity:
2.2 Describe how changing speed and changing direction can allow one person to move away from
another.
3.4 Perform increasing number of each: abdominal curl-ups, oblique curl-ups on each side, modified
push-ups or traditional push-ups with hands on a bench, forward lunges, side lunges, and triceps pushups from a chair.

Students are challenged to get as many students as
possible into one hoop that is place in the ground.
In order for a person to be considered on board,
one foot must be touching the ground inside the
hoop and no body parts touching the floor outside
the hoop.
PART 4: GAME ACTIVITY (5 mins): Flippers
Activity
Flying disks are spread throughout the teaching
area and two teams formed. One team is charged
with flipping the disks face up and the other team
has to flip the disk face down position.
Play a practice game.
After add the following stipulations:
1. No hands
2. Feet only
3. Students must crab walk or bear crawl.
4. Feet only, and only one foot can touch the
disk at a time
5. Knees only.

One technique to lead up to this activity is to play


musical hoops. Play music and when the music
stops remove one hoop.
Scatter hoops around the activity area.
Remind students to work together to accomplish
the challenge and be careful when trying to fit into
the hoop.
