5.
6.

Be respectful to others and your surroundings

Be responsible for your own actions
Be prepared for class
Raise your hand during classroom discussion
Use class time efficiently
Follow rules set in place by school administration

Consequences for students who do not follow classroom rules

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

First offense: verbal warning

Second offense: time set aside from recess (students time) to meet with teacher
Third offense: parents will be notified
Fourth offense: Parent teacher meeting
Fifth offense will result in removal from class and administrative involvement

I believe that it is important for students to know my rules and expectations at the
beginning of the year so there is no confusion at a later date. The process of discipline is useful
so students know what to expect in the classroom. Specific behaviors may call for further
punishment, but for average classroom behavior goofing off this process is very useful.

Classroom Management and Organization

The management and organization of a classroom should be held in high regards. Having
good organization and a comfortable classroom environment will help in creating a classroom of
productive learners. Expectations, procedures, and rules should be known by the students as well
as the teacher.
Management and Organization

Students and teachers will know all rules and concequences

Students will be made aware of classroom procedure and rules in the first week of class
Rules and concequences will be posted in clear view
The teacher will start and end class, not the bell/clock
Hands on learning will be an important part of most lessons

Lupu 2

Class time will be used efficiently (stay on task)

Lessons will be designed around the common core for the state of Michigan (what
students are required to learn)
Evaluations of learning will be accomplished in many ways (Homework, tests, quizzes,
activities, etc.)

Expectations of the teacher

The teacher will be well prepared for class

The teacher will enjoy teaching and be enthusiastic about all subjects
The teacher will create a class of productive learners
The teacher will be approachable and available to students in times of need
The teacher will show respect for all students
The teacher will have the disposition that all students are capable of learning

Expectations of the student

Students will come well prepared each and every day for class
Students will participate in classroom discussion and activities
Students will show respect for the teacher and fellow classmates
Students will follow all classroom rules
Students will be responsible for their own actions

Classroom Procedures
Beginning the class
1. Teacher will greet the students to become aware of anything that needs to be brought to the
teachers attention. (Attitude of students, are they clean, etc.)
2. Attendance will be taken in a fun and engaging way to interest students in beginning their day at
school.
3. Check for any questions students may have about the previous lesson and review to make sure
students fully understand the topic of discussion.
Various parts of the classroom
1. While in desks during a lesson, students will be focused and quiet.
2. Follow rules specific to certain centers of the room. Reading area is quiet and books are put away
neatly.
3. All areas of the room should stay clean and organized. Students will be required to clean up after
themselves.
Transition times

Lupu 3
1. Transition is a time to sharpen pencils, gather materials for the next lesson, and use the bathroom
and drinking fountain.
2. This time should be quick and quiet to provide for more time on task.
3. Talking should be very limited in order to keep this time short.
Other school areas
1. Students will stay seated in the lunch room. This will prevent spills and messes caused by
children bumping into each other.
2. In other classrooms materials and people will be respected.
3. Students will be supervised at all times to prevent goofing off, disruptions, and damage of school
property.
During class time time on task
1. Students will be prepared with the proper books, papers, and writing utensils required for each
lesson so class can be run smoothly and efficiently.
2. Attention of the students will be aimed towards the teacher for instruction. This will limit
questions students frequently ask because of lack of attention to instruction.
3. Students should remain seated during class time and raise a hand if they have a question or
statement to make to the class.
Ending class
1. All materials will be put back in place and the classroom will be orderly to allow for class the
next day to begin smoothly.
2. Planners, announcements, and (or) homework in order and prepared to be taken home so parents
know of upcoming events and any homework the students have.
3. The teacher dismisses the students. NOT THE BELL. This will prevent students from losing
focus towards the end of a lesson.

Classroom Discipline Beliefs

Minor Disruptions
Minor disruptions such as talking out of turn, passing notes, not paying attention in class
will be handled in a calm manner. A look will be given to warn the student that the teacher is
aware of the disrupting behavior. Non verbal methods are very useful because they do not take
time from the lesson. If during class discussion, asking a question to the student can bring focus
back to the lesson.
On-going discipline issues
When a behavior is on-going the process of concequences as stated on the rules and
concequences page of this management plan will be used. It is important for students to be aware
of this process at the beginning of the year so this issue will be less present in the classroom. It is
a very expensive process and will limit the time on task in your class. If the behavior is serious,
discipline will be at the teachers discretion in order to keep a stable and safe classroom
environment.

Lupu 4

Aggressive and Violent Behavior

Aggressive and Violent behavior will by no means be accepted in the classroom. To keep
students safe the misbehaving student will be immediately removed in the calmest manner
possible from the classroom. Administrators are responsible for this behavior. The discipline for
such behavior is provided in the student handbook. In most cases Violent behavior can result in
suspension or expulsion.
