February Timeline and Activities:

Competency 1 - Accountability
Timeline - Data gathered and developed into a comprehensive report by
the end of February.
Related Tasks 1.1
Ability to analyze and interpret the meaning of various student assessments to
boards, teaching staff and others.
Specific Task 1.1.3
Ability to use assessment data to identify weaknesses and recommend strategies
for improving student performance.
Smart Goal - By April 2015, I will analyze the data from the Lutz Transition
Assessment and provide the school staff with a comprehensive presentation
detailing the strengths and weakness of the Assessment. The information will help
staff development teaching strategies that will improve deficiencies of the
assessment and enhance student transition out of Lutz and into the community.

Analyze data from the Lutz Transition Assessment and

compare and contrast years of data to determine the
development and progress students are making towards the
schools curriculum and expectations.
The evaluation of the Lutz Assessment will measure each
categorical area and how each student has progressed. The
task will be measured by the number of students assessed and
the data that will be presented to the staff. There will also be a
survey given that rates the usefulness of the information
provided to staff.
Identify the areas of the assessment that students are
successful in and the areas of deficiency.
Collecting and evaluating the data will provide staff with
knowledge how our students are progressing and what
changes need to occur in the future.
By April 2015, do a categorical analysis and of the Assessment
and provide the school staff with a presentation reporting on
the findings.

Narrative Description of Specific Task

During my clinical internship I will develop a detailed report that will examine the
Lutz School Transition Assessment that is given to our students once a year. The

assessment measures the students specific abilities/skills in four domain areas.

These domain areas are Career/Employment, Post-Secondary Education/Training,
Adult Living and Community Experiences. Each domain has several questions that
depict the students abilities on a rating system of 1-5. I will be collecting data on 23 classes from 2 years of assessments (2013 and 2014) and creating an evaluation
that describes the areas of deficiency and the areas of growth. The purpose for this
task is our school has not yet done anything that assesses the effectiveness of our
assessment nor have we used the data to influence teaching practices. In order to
develop the schools curriculum and enhance our teaching practices it is pivotal
that the schools staff is aware of our students development and in what areas they
are falling short. Once the data is collected, I will prepare a brief presentation that
will be given to the staff. After the information has been relayed there will be
discussion groups formed to allow staff to generate ideas to address the
deficiencies in the assessment, and how we as a school will improve them.

Competency 2 - Communications
Related Tasks 2.1 - Knowledge of group interaction techniques.
Specific Task 1.2.4
Conduct staff meeting
Smart Goal On February 19th, 2015 (2 PM) I will conduct a staff meeting
discussing the CHAMPS principals and lead participants through a discussion that
will assess our own practices in PBIS. A survey will be given to staff that will
measure the effectiveness of the information delivered.

Timely

Develop a staff meeting that is directed towards the CHAMPS

model and its implications towards my schools PBIS.
A staff survey will be developed to assess the material and
its effectiveness towards our school behavioral system.
Ongoing research and development allows for teachers and
staff to improve teaching practices and delivery of a school
wide program.
Lutz practices a PBIS program that directly relates and shares
similarities of the CHAMPS program and would benefit
adopting a variety of these principles into our program.
I just recently attended a training and will present CHAMPS
before April of 2015 in a staff meeting.

Narrative Description of Specific Task

The school I work for practices and institutes a PBIS program to support our
students behavioral needs. The model of PBIS we use is very similar to the CHAMPS
program and institutes the same principles. My schools principal approached me
about the training and felt it would be beneficial for me to attend the training on
CHAMPS and explicit instruction and present to the staff anything I learned that
would be relevant to my coworkers. Lutz has a large number of students who are on
an individualized behavior plan and require very specific interventions. It will be
very beneficial to my schools staff to participate in a staff meeting that will address
these issues and how we are using PBIS principles in our instruction and how
CHAMPS can benefit us as a group. I will lead my staff through discussions and
encourage them to assess how well we are practicing the interventions in our
classrooms and throughout the school. A survey will be given to our staff that will
answer questions of how well we as a school support our students behavioral
needs and how well we use explicit instruction within our classrooms.

March Timeline and Activities

Competency 4 Curriculum, Instruction, Supervision
Related Task 4.3 - Knowledge of a variety of instructional methods and skills.
Specific Skill 4.3.6 - Conduct at least one clinical supervision cycle including preobservation, classroom observation(s) and post-observation session with teacher.

Timeline By the end of March conduct a clinical observation of

Susan Pavloffs lesson, and participate in a post-observation
meeting. I will also provide a write up of my experience.
Smart Goal By April 2015, I will organize and participate in both pre/post
observation meetings as well as an hour-long lesson observation. The effectiveness
of the process will be measured by conversations had with the teacher,
administrator and myself. The teacher will be asked to evaluate the outcomes of the
observation and rate the usefulness of the experience.

Organize and participate in a pre-observation meeting with

Susan P. Observe and evaluate Susan on pre-established goals
and objectives for the lesson. Participate in a post-observation
discussion with Susan regarding discussing the outcomes of
her lesson.
The observation will be measured through district issues
evaluation rubrics. The interaction will be measured for
effectiveness through discussions with the teacher, principal
and myself.
The pre and post meetings as well as the observation will
occur before the end of March.
Observing and discussing the implications of Susans lesson

Timely

will not only benefit my development as a principal but will

create a positive working relationship with myself and another
teacher. Professional dialogue will encourage better teaching
practices.
Dates are being arranged for both Susan and my principal and
will be both timely and effective.

Narrative Description of Task

An important component of the clinical process is participating in observing and
evaluating a fellow colleague. I will first organize a time that Susan and I can sit and
discuss the lesson she plans to teach. The dialogue will include areas of concern
she has going into the lesson that she feels she would like to focus and grow in.
The pre-observation meeting allows both the teacher and the observer to develop
clear ideas of what the pre-established goals and focuses are of the lesson. I will
observe Susan with my administrator for an hour on a date that works for all
parties. The observation will occur before the month of April to allow for a postobservation meeting and write up. The post-observation meeting will be held to
review the lesson and its effectiveness. Susan will be given the opportunity to
discuss strengths and weaknesses of the lesson. I will participate in an open
conversation with Susan discussing these areas and provide her with any feedback I
can. We will also discuss the effectiveness of the process and how she benefitted
participating in the clinical observation.

Competency 10
Related Task 10.1 Knowledge of Staff Relations
Specific Task 10.1.3 Study the organizational health of a school and
recommend intervention strategies.
Timeline By the end of March (possibly February Activity
Depending on the instruction given on Feb 13th class) I will have
received training in the CBAM assessments of staff relations and will
assess the staff members. The purpose will be to develop an
understanding of how effective our schools staff works with one
another and the types of interactions that exist at Lutz.

Competency 11 Student Personnel

Related Task 11.2 - Knowledge of principles of discipline, student control, etc.

Specific Task 11.2.3 - Study a specific pupil behavior problem in a given school or
district, meet with concerned parents and teachers and make appropriate
recommendations.
Smart Goal - By the end of March 2015, I will observe 1-2 students and document
daily interactions and behaviors the student demonstrated through the course of
the day. I will then develop a BIP with the student, teacher psychologist and family
to support the needs of the student. The effectiveness of the plan will be evaluated
in a follow up meeting 2 weeks after the implementation of the plan.

Observe 1-2 students daily behavior and develop a behavior

intervention plan with teacher, psychologist, student and
parent.
The outcome of the meeting will be measured by the
effectiveness of the plan. A meeting to discuss the outcomes
of the intervention plan will be held two week after the
implantation of the PBS.
This specific task will be completed by the end of March to
allow for evaluation and a write up on the activity.
Lutz practices a PBIS program that involves the entire school
to support and regulate student behavior. The related task
will provide all those involved an opportunity to develop a
behavior plan to encourage and support positive behavior.
The meetings will be scheduled directly following the
observations.

Narrative Description of Specific Task.

Throughout March I will work with Susan Tatro and analyze 1-2 students and
develop a behavioral report that can be shared and discussed in an upcoming
March-April PBS with the administrator, teacher, student and parent/guardian.

April Timeline and Activities

Competency X: Leadership- Job Shadowing
Related and Specific Tasks: Job Shadow at least one-day full day that would reflect a
typical day.
Timeline March 24th I will take one day to job shadow and interview John
Nader.
Smart Goal On March 24th 2015, I will observe and shadow John Nader
throughout the course of the day. We will take opportunities to discuss questions I

have relevant to the daily practices of an administrator. The effectiveness of the

task will be determined through conversations had at the end of the day and I will
provide a written summery of my findings.

Job Shadow My administrator John Nader for one school day.

The task will be measured through conversations had with
John and a written report I will provide at the end of the
process.
John and I have scheduled March 24th for the Job shadow.
Being this is a require competency for the clinical practice
the information gained from the experience will very
beneficial towards my development as an administrator.

Narrative Description of Specific Task

I will spend the day with Mr. Nader following and participating in his daily activities.
During that day there is a scheduled meeting with Michigan Rehabilitation service,
who works directly with our students. The meeting will allow John and me to
develop a better understanding of the effectiveness MRS is having with our
students. The opportunity to shadow John will allow for me to develop a better
understand of the process an administrator takes throughout the day to make a
positive impact on his staff and body of students. I will then write a reflective
summary, citing all of our activities and provide thought provoking analysis on
them. I will describe and assess the decision-making process and styles established
by the administrator. I will identify several lessons the day taught me about school
leadership and the administrative practice.
