Who dares to teach must never cease to learn

March 9, 2015.
Bessie Gruppuso
Sr. Manager of Human Resources
Toronto Catholic District School Board
80 Sheppard Ave. E
Toronto, ON M2N 6E8
Dear Ms. Gruppuso
I am applying for a teaching position in the Intermediate Senior Division with the Toronto Catholic District
School Board where I hope to continue exploring my passion for education. I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor
of Education program at York University. Additionally, I successfully obtained an Honors Bachelor Degree in
English and an undeclared minor in Theology. I look forward to enrolling in the English as a Second Language
additional qualification course in order to expand my knowledge on inclusivity in a diverse community.
Furthermore, I aim to complete my masters degree in English to further develop my expertise in my primary
teachable and thus deliver more enriched lessons in the classroom.
As a graduate of a Catholic education system with a passion and educational background in Theology, it is
with pride that I share and promote the Toronto Catholic District School Boards vision for Catholic education. As
an active member of my parish, I firmly believe that connecting education to Catholic values helps to create a
meaningful learning experience and connects students to a larger faith-based community.
I have a range of educational experiences that have given me the necessary skills and tools to excel as an
educator. My volunteer work, teaching experience in Italy and my practicum experiences have diversified my
capabilities and have given me the opportunity to work with students of different age levels, abilities and cultural
backgrounds. While teaching English in Italy I embraced the challenge of utilizing differentiated instruction to
address each students needs and learning level in English. Furthermore, during my practicum experiences I
developed an excellent rapport with each student, used various as, of and for learning assessments, incorporated 21st
century learning tools in the classroom while encouraging student voice to motivate and engage students in my
respectable subjects.
In each school I have had the pleasure of applying my leadership skills and immersing myself into the
schools culture by participating in school events and contributing to various extra-curricular programs such as the
Buddy Program; which involved planning and participating in activities devoted to students with disabilities. As an
individual with a variety of interests and dedication to progressive education I created a Gender Equality afterschool workshop in my practicum where students and staff were encouraged to discuss and analyze social, political
and cultural factors that contribute to gender inequality every week. Each lesson was designed to be relevant to the
students interests, promoted healthy well-being through optimistic discussion and incorporated various media
sources to promote media literacy. My involvement in each school outside the classroom allowed me to grow as an
educator and a community member while allowing me to explore what motivates students outside the classroom to
better my practice as an educator.
I sincerely thank you for considering my application. I look forward to further discussing my qualifications
and experiences that have shaped me into a committed educator and how my unique skill-set will be an excellent
addition to the Toronto Catholic District School Board.
Sincerely,
Amanda Naccarato
