Over coming her head injury

Paraphrasing: When Harriet was 12 she was old enough to work on the fields. Harriet was
young but prefered the physical work on the plantation instead of domestic work for the

white women. When out to the grocery store with her overseer, Harriet saw a fugitive slave.
Her overseer was going up to the fugitive to confront him. Harriet protected the fugitive by
standing infront of the doorway stopping her overseer. The overseer picked up a weight and
aimed at the fugitive, but instead hit Harriet. It took months for her to recover from the head
injury. Her overseer tried to sell her but couldn't find any buyers. Later Harriet found
syptoms of her head injury. She would fall asleep, but wouldn't be able to be woken up.
These sleeping spells came without warning. She was beginning to have vivid dreaming, and
would never fully recover. She later had surgery to get rid of these syptoms, but never fully
worked.
