Informal Assessment

While reviewing economics vocabulary, the teacher will ask the following
questions:
What is the person who buys a product called?
What is the name for items that people sell?
What is something that affects the cost of the products we are selling?
What is the amount of money that we pay for a product called?
What is supply?
What is a profit?
Who is the person who makes the product?
What is an example of a good and an example of a service?
Formative Assessment
Students will be given a worksheet where they will be asked to complete a
worksheet based on the Lemonade Stand game played in class. Students
will use their knowledge of economics vocabulary words and making choices
to complete the worksheet.

Answer the following questions about the game Lemonade Stand. A word
bank for the first three questions is on the SMARTBoard, but not all of the
words will be used.
1. What is the name for the people that buy the lemonade?
Consumer
2. Who is the person who makes the lemonade (thats you!)?
Producer
3. What is the money that you have left after you have subtracted the cost to
make the lemonade?
Profit
4. What is the product that is being sold?
Lemonade
5. What choices did make in the game Lemonade Stand?

Answers will vary. Students should list at least one choice they made. This
may include: number of pitchers made, cost to sell lemonade per glass, etc.
6. Did your choices help or hurt your business? List one reason why.
Answers will vary. Students should list at least one reason.
Summative Assessment
The summative assessment will be an end of unit test. Students will be
asked similar questions those on the Lemonade Stand worksheet. Questions
may be fill in the blank, multiple choice, or short answer.
Questions may include:
Fill in the Blank: A __________ is the person who makes the product that is
being sold.
Multiple Choice: How much money is needed to buy the product is the:
A. Demand
B. Price
C. Profit
D. Seller
Short Answer: Name and example of a good and a service.
Accommodations/Modifications
Informal Assessment
ELL Students: Questions during the vocabulary review will be posed to the
student in two alternative ways with simpler wording. Below are two
additional ways to pose the question What is the person who buys the
product called. Questions may also be posed in the students home
language if necessary.
Is the person who buys the product a consumer or a producer?
What is a consumer?
Student with a Reading Disabilty: Questions will be asked with
alternative wording, such as that shown above for the ELL student.
Student with ADHD: Student will be seated at the front of the classroom
close to the teacher.
Formative Assessment

ELL Students: Problems on the worksheet will be written in simple English.


If necessary, the questions will be translated into the students own
language.
Student with a Reading Disability: Student will be given a word bank on
paper in addition to the word bank that is posted up on the SMARTBoard.
This word bank will only include the words that are used on the worksheet,
without any additional words.
Student with ADHD: Student will be seat at the front of the classroom. A
word bank will be given to the student with only the words that are
necessary for completing the worksheet.
Summative Assessment
ELL Students: Test questions will also be written in simpler language for the
student or in the students own language.
Student with a Reading Disability: Student will be given extra time to
complete the test. The teacher will read the test questions aloud to the
student.
Student with ADHD: Student will take the test in a separate room if
necessary. The student will be able to cover problems so they are only show
the question that they are answering.
