THE HEREDIRTY OF AUTISM

INTRODUCTION:
The topic of this genre analysis is to research the understanding of autism. The purpose is
to go in depth about the understanding of autism by narrowing the topic down into one specific
idea. Narrowing more into the depth the genre analysis is about the hereditary of autism. Autism
is a development disorder that impairs a person to the ability to communicate and interact among
people. Typography is the two genres used to focus on this genre analysis. Both typographies are
articles, these articles are, A unified genetic theory for sporadic and inherited autism by
Michael Wigler, and Genetics of autism spectrum disorders by The National Autistic Society.
These genres will focus more on the hereditary of autism throughout the genre analysis, and to
find out where autism comes from, and how it becomes hereditary.
Audience and Purpose Questions:
Article number one, A unified genetic theory for sporadic and inherited autism is a scholarly
article found on the database Google. The purpose of the article is to inform the audience of the
analyze study of multiplex families from the Autism Genetic Resource Exchange having a
higher percent of autism and evidence to prove the dominate transmission of male offspring. The
second article, Genetic of autism spectrum disorder is another scholarly article found on the
database of Google. The purpose of the article is to inform the audience about studies about the
characteristics about the genetic bases of Autism, and new developed techniques to detect the
multiple of genes associated with autism. The article, A unified genetic theory for sporadic and
inherited autism is intended for the general public that want to learn more about autism, how it
can effect more males than females, and why is autism is mostly among multiplex families. The
article, Autism Genetic Resource Exchange is also intended for the general public that want to
learn about autism, and how it becomes genetic through the chromosomes and DNA of children.

THE HEREDIRTY OF AUTISM

Both articles differ in a way of time management depending on the time spent reading the
articles. The vocabulary in article one can be hard to understand at first, it will be best to read it
with full attention, and read a couple of times to truly understand what the article is talking
about. Article two is more fluent, it can be understood better without difficult vocabulary. It is
broken down paragraph by paragraph to help get a better understanding. It depends on the reader
if they can become amused, and interested with the readings it.
The purpose of both articles is to understand the hereditary of autism, in article one, A
unified genetic theory for sporadic and inherited autism it informs the audience the high
percentages of autism in males. There are studies being done on siblings and there are higher
advantages of males being born with autism. There are also studies to show how multiplex
families have a risk of one of their child to be born with autism. In the second article, Genetic of
autism spectrum disorder it is to inform the audience the difference in the DNA in an autism
child and the child that does not have autism. There are also studies shown the chromosomes
differences in a child with autism, and the mutation analysis in the genes. Both articles have
formal language. In article one, A unified genetic theory for sporadic and inherited autism it
has equations to show the audience the estimate risk a female or male can come into risk with
autism. The article is placed into paragraphs that are in chronological order from, the
introduction, to the results of the studies, to the discussion. Throughout the article there are
number that are highlighted in blue to help the reader referrer to a table or equation, and the
authors of the articles are also highlighted in blue so they can be clicked on to be referred to their
other articles they have written, other than that the rest of the words are black. The text in the
second article, Genetic of autism spectrum disorder is a simple black and white article. There
are boxes that go more into depth of the information provided in the text. The title is in bold

black letters and the article is based on paragraphs put into chronological order from, the history
of autism, the genetics in the DNA and chromosomes, and advanced studies to better detect
autism in the future.
Rhetorical Issues:
Ethos
In the first genre, the authors of the articles are trying to get the reader to understand the
high risk for a child from a multiplex family to be born with autism. The article establishes
credibility by, scientist study on families that have kids with autism, and then they see if their
third child has the possibility being born with autism. The scientists conducting the study on
autism also use equations to determine whether or not a female or male will have a higher risk of
autism. Based on the studies environmental factors can be ruled out, the models assume the risk
of autism to be genetics. The mutation de novo is the cause of multiplex families to have more
than one child to be born with autism. In the second genre, the article provides information that
autism first was inherited by twins. There is deletion and on the DNA, also called de novo
mutation. There is also research based on change in a child chromosomes, the chromosomes
have different function that cause autism. The credibility can be backed up by graphs and more
detailed information that are referred throughout the article.
Pathos
Both articles show no emotion throughout the reading, it is mostly informal information
for the public to read. In the first genre, based on the language and tone on the first article it is
hard to covey any emotion, but only interest in the reading itself. In the second genre is not a
emotional like article. It is hard to determine to feel any kind of emotion; the author did not
evoke any emotion on the readers of the article.

THE HEREDIRTY OF AUTISM

Logos:
In the first genre the authors proves that autism is genetic. It is due to one of the parents
that can pass the de novo mutation down to any gender, even if autism is not common among the
family. The evidence is true because there are studies and resources that can prove that autism is
among many families and especially the male gender. In the second genre most of the facts stated
come for the resources that are applied throughout the article. The article is not well supported; it
is just based off its own references.

Structure and Delivery:

The first genre can be intimidating to the reader based off its vocabulary and length. The
reader might lose focus due to all the equations, number combined with variables, and so much
information the reader has to take in at once. The author does explain the studies point about how
autism becomes hereditary, and the percentage it takes on the male offspring. In the second genre
it is not as length as the first genre, but it can be understood better. Throughout the article there
are smaller paragraph providing more information, like the linkage of autism or a picture of the
chromosomes an autism child has. The article is more reliable because, it provides more
information for the reader to engage on.

Conclusion/Synthesis:
Therefore both genres helped go into depth into understanding autism. The firs genre
helped find percentages but it was too lengthy, but the second genre gave more information and
was easy to read and comprehend.
