fateofdeath,isessentiallywhatimmortalityisallabout.Animpossibletopictoachieve,right?
Actually,thereisapossibilitytointroduceanimmortalitygenetohumans.Scientistshave
coincidentallyencounteredwaystopursueitbyusingjellyfishcells.Thequestionis,isita
goodideatousetheconcept?No,itisaterribleideatobringforth,duetothesethree
reasons:watchinglovedonesdie,overpopulation,andtherejectionofjellyfishcellsinthe
humanbody.
Thefirstreasonforthisdeclarationisthatbeingimmortalmeanswatchingother
peoplearoundyoudieofotherjustifications.Aquestionprobablyaskedcommonlyinthistype
ofdiscussionisThenwhycanteverypersonontheplanetbeimmortal?.Well,the
explanationissimple:peoplecannotaffordthepriceofimmortality,duetoitbeingamajor
scienceproject.So,thepeoplewhoneveragewillsoonwatchthepeoplearoundthem
becomeoldandwitheraway.Thiswillcausetheimmortalstohavegreatmentalityproblems,
whichissomethingbad.Overall,watchinglovedonesdieisnotwhatpeoplewouldwantto
livelongerfor.
Thesecondreasonthatarguesaboutthethreatofimmortalityisthatoverpopulation
mayoccurnegatively.SinceEarthisknownforitsabundanceofpeople,theymustsurvivevia
Earthsresources.Althoughtherearesomeresourceslikeairorwaterthatwontberunning
outanytimesoon,otherresourcessuchasfossilfuelsaregoingtobescarceifthereis
overpopulation.Rightnowtherearesomecountriesthatarestrugglingwiththelackof
resources,soifthepopulationweretogrow,everythingwouldturntochaos.Thisiswhy
immortalityshouldnotbepursued.
Thethirdandmostimportantreasonofwhyhumansshouldpursueimmortalityisthat
immortalcellscomingfromjellyfishwouldnotworkonhumankind.Jellyfisharemarine
animalswhilehumansarenakedmammals,whichisobviousthatthetwospecieswouldnot
matchcorrectly.Thereisapossibilitythathumanbodiescanrejectthecellsbadly,which
couldcausepanicanddangertoeveryone.Inaddition,jellyfishhavetoxicityintheirbodies
thatcouldharmotherbeings,whichconcludesthatjellyfishandhumansjustdontmatch,
eveniftheprojectweretobetestedonvariouskindsoflaboratoryanimals.Thedifferent
DNAsandgeneticsaretooriskyforpeople,soitisnotagoodideatoachieveimmortality.
Now,somepeoplemaydisagreethatimmortalityishorrible,buttheirreasonsonwhy
theyencourageitisunderstandable.Forexample,importantpeoplecanlivelongerandleave
greatimpactsfortheworldtoknow.Maybepeoplesimplyjustwanttoseewhatthefutureis
likeinEarth?Ormaybetheywanttoearnenoughmoneytoachievetheirdreams?However,
thesereasonscanbecounteredwiththisstatement:livingforalongerperiodoftimecan
makeonegrowtiredofservingtheworld.
Watchinglovedones,overpopulation,andunmatchedDNAarethethreemain
reasonswhyimmortalityshouldnotbepursued.However,asolutionthatsupportsbothsides
oftheargumentcouldbeprovidedassomethingtofightoffdiseases.Insteadofinjectingcells
intohumansystems,perhapsjellyfishcellscouldbeturnedintosomesortofmedicinesuch
ascancerorotherseriousdiseases.Withenoughresearch,scientistscouldtestonjellyfish
cellstoseeiftheywouldreactorcurediseases.Forthis,animalscouldactuallybetested,

sincetheyexperiencethesamekindofillnesseshumansexperience.Sothissolutionis
actuallysomethingthatshouldbelookedinto,insteadofimmortality.
