1. What are your goals and objectives for this lesson?

For students to understand how to take on the point of view of a character


in the book a long Walk to Water.

For students to understand how to form opinions based on facts from the
book, from this persons point of view.

2. What are some specific things you would like observed?

Am I challenging the students to be 21st century thinkers and problem


solvers?

Are they able to solve the problems without a lot of help from me?

Am I able to gain and keep control of the classroom? How can I improve this?

Am I managing my time well?

Am I allowing the students to guide their learning?

Does the flow of the lesson work?

Recapping book

Reading in chunks

Stop and jot thinking

Turn and talk

Student feed back thats a good question/suggestion/thinking

Having them assume a character and write down their thinking.

Sharing their thinking at the end

4. Suggestions for future lessons:

Dont forget to have the objective clarified.

Make sure you clarify instructions for students, have a couple repeat your
expectation/task to you.

Dont forget to monitor student off/on task behavior, dont be afraid to


stop the lesson and refocus them.

When you notice that students have lost focus, redirect them.

Always have an extension activity/work ready for your early finishers (e.g
when finished read independently)

Classroom management and monitoring comes with time!
