I am applying for an Education teaching position. I am currently a recent graduate of Alma
College seeking for a job around the Mid Michigan area.

To prepare for being a professional educator, I have completed over 200 hours of classroom
placement observation and instruction and taken all the required courses through Alma
Colleges Teacher Education Program to hold a major in elementary education, with a early
childhood endorsement (ZS). Through my hard efforts at Alma College, I was presented the
Harlan R. McCall Memorial Scholar in Education award. This award is given for excellence in
academic work and student teaching. My educational experiences have provided me with quality
and effective methods for teaching in the classroom. My desire is to motivate, inspire, encourage
and support my students by creating a loving and safe environment.

My student teaching experiences combined with my work experience as an assistant at a
learning center has allowed me to work with various age and ability groups. These experiences
have emphasized the importance of involving families and community. I am looking forward to
having the potential opportunity to engage students in different service learning projects within
the community.

In addition to the enclosed resume, I have an electronic professional portfolio

background, interests, and experiences. Included in this portfolio is my teaching philosophy, a
complete classroom management plan, several professional references, and a collection of
examples of my classroom work.
