Description of artifact and how the artifact meets the standard:
As a first year teacher I was paired up with Amy Shaver as my mentor. This artifact is a summary
that I sent to a district administrator at the end of my first year of teaching.
A.- I adhered to the district procedure of meeting with Amy for the required number of hours each
semester.
B.- I met with Amy and had a mentor to meet state law and district policy regarding teachers who are
teaching with an Initial Teaching License.
Reflection on artifact (what went right, what went wrong, how to make better):
Having a mentor in my first year of teaching was extremely helpful and I learned a lot of Amy every
time we met. In my second year of teaching my mentor moved to a new building and I stayed at
Anderson. This made my mentorship more challenging because it was hard to meet up with her after
school. I think having a special education teacher as my mentor would have been more beneficial
because I would have learned more about our districts IEP policys.
