Description of artifact and how the artifact meets the standard:
I took a professional development class called Projects of Study. The class taught us how to use
projects of study as part of the Creative Curriculum. At the end of the class my coworkers and I
created a project of study that we would be able to teach in our classroom. This artifact is the
project planning page that includes the rational for choosing the study, the key questions that will be
answered in the study, and a parent letter for families about the study.
Reflection on artifact (what went right, what went wrong, how to make better):
This grocery store Project of Study was a study that we had to make for the class, but I wanted to
make sure that it was something that I could use in my classroom and implement right away. We
were a little hesitant as a grade level about teaching using projects of study. However, implementing
my own Project of Study and seeing how well in worked in the classroom and seeing how involved
the students were instantly won me over to the idea. I can see now how the Project of Study gets
the students more interested and really deepens their understanding of the topic.
