Constitution Lesson Packet

Task: Each block will be divided up into groups. Each group will choose a topic related to
the U.S. Constitution, prepare a lesson, and teach their peers about their topic. Each
group will have 4 class periods to prepare for their lesson. Below is a breakdown of what
you will need, job assignments, components of your lesson, and resources to use. This
will be a graded assignment not only for preparation and execution, but for your
behavior and participation in other groups lessons.
Lesson Components:
1. Objective This should be the focus of your lesson. What do you want the
students to learn from your lesson? This will be provided for you by me.
2. Introduction Introduce the topic in a way that gets students excited and
focused on learning.
3. Informational Text A reading piece that explains your topic and provides
examples of the topic in real life. You may have two short reading pieces.
4. Reading Check A way for you to make sure your class understood what they
read. This could be a simple worksheet, discussion, matching activity, scenario
analysis, chart, etc. There are lots of options.
5. Video Clip A video clip could be used to introduce or reinforce an idea. It can be
no more than 5 to 10 minutes. This is not a requirement and not every topic has a
school appropriate video or a interesting video worth watching. (Optional)
6. Closing Activity Take your objective and rephrase it into a question. Based on
your lesson, students should be able to answer the question. This will let you know
