The goal of this lesson is to have students build upon their knowledge of basic
ballet terms.
Students will be able to learn and apply their terminology to create their own
video dictionary.

Procedure
1. 3 Minutes (Engagement) Students will begin class with a youtube clip on the
basic ballet vocabulary. These are terms that the students have recently
learned, but will be demonstrating on their own.

2. 3 Minutes Students will share with their classmates what they thought about
the video they saw. Did they like the visuals? What would they have done
differently?

3. 10 Minutes The teacher will explain the project that the students will need to
demonstrate. Students are to create their own video dictionary of the basic
ballet terms that have been taught in class so far. Students will be required to
record themselves physically demonstrating and verbally explaining 10
different ballet terms. Students will need to use their iPads to record their
video. Students will use iMovie to make any edits to their video, along with
creating titles for each term. Students should also add transitions in between
each term, but are not required to have a title to start and end the video.

4. 3 Minutes The students will use their iPads to review their SayBallet app for
any terms they need review for. This can be done in partners or small groups
depending on class size.

5. 25 Minutes (Guided Practice) Students will be instructed to split off into


partners to start their recording. Students will then be given a 5 minute
warning to finish up their video recordings. The remainder of the time will be 6. Visual, Logical, Musical, Interpersonal
spent editing their videos on iMovie.
6. Students will upload their iMovie onto youtube, and then will post their
video link on their class Schoology page.

Procedures Continued
1. 7. Check for Comprehension (Done throughout class) The teacher will roam
around the room going from group to group to offer suggestions, assist with
video taping, and answer any questions.
Product and Assessment Rubric

Product

Students should verbally explain 10 different terms that were


learned in ballet class in this video. After verbally explaining each
term students should physically demonstrate each term correctly.
Students should have recorded this video with their iPads, added
background music, and added titles and transitions to their video.
Student should have then added their videos to YouTube and then
posted the link to their video on their dance Schoology page for
their classmates to view.
