Visiting the NGOs and the content learned in this Field Trip Interdisciplinary Unit
increase my understanding and awareness of the complex issues around Human Rights and
Fairness and Development as I got a valuable chance to experience and feel everything.
First, we visited interfaith Dialogue in Indonesia which is a non-governmental
organization which builds a forum for interfaith communication. Basically, we learned about the
religion problems that happening in Indonesia between Muslim and Christian. Especially, in
Biblical Studies class, we learned about compassion as demonstrated by Jesus, the power of
connections and relationships and engaging with a community not just to a community. And also
in English and Individuals and Society class, we learned about human rights and the effects of
discrimination. Through visiting this NGO, it helps me to increase my understanding and
awareness of the issues as I felt a lot of things through this activity.
Second, we visited Pusat Rehabilitasi YAKKUM (PRY) which is a non-governmental,
Christian public health foundation which provides rehabilitation for children and young adults
with physical disabilities. It was great experience. In Biblical Studies, we learned about service
and caring for others ad communities as places of support. Also in English and Individuals and
Society, we learned about the human rights, the human condition and responsibility and the
fairness. Vising this NGO gave me a more understanding and awareness about these topics as I
was able to feel and experience more things than I learned before. Before, I didnt still consider

help more than me and happiness is not always coming from the thing that given to me.
Third, we visited CD Bethesda which is a non-profit organization which concern with
remote community who do not have access to healthcare. Formally, CD Bethesda is an
independent unit of Bethesda Hospital under coordination of YAKKUM, one of the biggest
healthcare foundations in Indonesia. We learned about HIV and the AIDS which called human
immunodeficiency virus and acquired immune deficiency syndrome. Basically, HIV is the virus
that makes AIDS problems. Connecting with some subjects we learned, we learned about the
inherent value of each human life in Biblical Studies and the human condition and responsibility,
discrimination and the interviewing skills from English and Individuals and Society. Through
this activity, it helps me to increase my awareness as I got an understanding of the different kinds
of people and I knew all people are all different.
