SUMMARY
HELPING IS A NOBLE DEED. BUT, HELPING SOMEONE TO GET
SOMETHING IN RETURN IS ABSOLUTELY NOT A NOBLE DEED.
RUMPELSTILTSKIN IS A STORY WHICH PORTRAYS, THE GREEDY
KING, WHO ASKS THE DAUGHTER OF THE POOR MILLER TO
TURN STRAWS INTO GOLD. WHEN, SHE WAS UNABLE TO DO IT,
THERE COMES, A LITTLE MAN. WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING ABOUT
HIS DETAILS, THE DAUGHTER AGREED TO GIVE ANYTHING IN
RETURN FOR THE FAVOUR OF THE LITTLE MAN. THIS ENDS UP
IN PROMISING TO GIVE THE FIRST CHILD. WHEN THE TIME
COMES, SHE REFUSES. THE LITTLE MAN SAYS IF YOU MANAGE
TO FIND MY NAME, YOU CAN KEEP YOUR CHILD. AND, THE
SEARCHING CONTINUES. FINALLY, AS WE ALL KNOW, IT ENDED
HAPPILY AS THE QUEEN FINDS OUT THE NAME OF THE LITTLE
MAN.

EXCERPTS

Messenger: I have not been able to find a single

new name, but as I came to a high mountain at
the end of the forest, there I saw a little house,
and outside the house before the house a quite
ridiculous little man was jumping, he hopped
upon one leg, and shouted:
Today I bake, tomorrow
brew,
the next Ill have the
young queens child.
How glad am I that no
one knew
that Rumpelstiltskin is
my name.
