Goal(s):

CCSS.Math.Content.4.G.A.1
Draw points, lines, line segments, rays, angles (right, acute, obtuse), and perpendicular
and parallel lines. Identify these in two-dimensional figures.
CCSS.Math.Content.4.G.A.2
Classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or
perpendicular lines, or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size. Recognize
right triangles as a category, and identify right triangles.
CCSS.Math.Content.4.G.A.3
Recognize a line of symmetry for a two-dimensional figure as a line across the figure
such that the figure can be folded along the line into matching parts. Identify linesymmetric figures and draw lines of symmetry.

Assessment:

The students have learned about line segments, lines, parallel lines, and rays and how to
label them.
They have learned about angles, triangles, parallelograms, polygons, and quadrangles and
how to label and construct them.
They have learned about circles and how to construct them with a compass.
Students will be able to do all the skills from Unit 1. (Refer to Everyday Mathematics
Teacher Lesson Guide for 4th grade)

Informal: Observe how students are answering the questions in the review.
- Are they struggling or striving?
Formal: The teacher has an end of the unit assessment they will be taking the day after
this review.

Materials Needed:
-

5 by 7 notecards to set up Jeopardy

o Each card has a dollar amount, ranging from 100-500
o On the flip side is a question
o Somewhere have an answer key

o Enough for 5 categories, 5 questions each

Whiteboard, marker, eraser for each team
Reward for winning team

Procedures:
(Include time allotments)

it
We are going to review by playing a game
Split class into teams
Each group of tables is a team
Arrange students to make roughly even teams
Pass out materials
Designate a writer in each team to start and rotate to the left for every question
Model if needed
Explain games rules
A group choses a category and then an amount
Whichever team holds up board with the correct answer first gets the points and gets to

pick the next question

Repeat until all questions are gone or time runs out
Steps for instruction 30 minutes
o Find the team member whose birthday is closest, their team will go first
o Pick category and amount
o Display question on the projector
o All teams work on question
o Pick winning team
Give points
o Go over problem as whole group
o Repeat until all questions are gone or time runs out
o Declare winner and give prize
Strategies for students requiring additional assistance: {use the information you gathered during the
pre-assessment process}
o Make sure to include all students to ensure they are all reviewing
Have students be the designated writer
Have students help during the whole class discussion of the question to ensure
understanding

Closure:
