Introduction
This portfolio contain the work that I completed during my studies at Wayne State
Universities School of Social Work. The two year program helped me to earn a bachelors
degree in Social Work. In addition, I also earned a Associates of Arts Degree at Macomb
Community College. This portfolio includes the written work that I accomplished at Wayne
State during my studies there. Under the Learning Products tab in Weebly, the papers that I
wrote during my time as a BSW student are listed in numerical order. I also added a
powerpoint presentation and some PRACSIS recordings, which displays some of my
creative accomplisments. I feel that they are a good representation of my hopes and desires
to become a skillful and purpose driven social worker.
During my studies, I was taught the importance of good writing skills. My papers are
representation of my personal journey from being a novice writer to a writer with skills that
involve critical thinking, good research techniques and problem solving which contributed to
my writing a good APA style paper. Throughout the two years that I was able to practice
these skills, it is evident that there is a marked improvement of my writing skills as the
development of the papers progress. You can see the transition in my work. By writing
about different themes and their own topics, I learned various writing skills that I will be able
to use in my career as a social worker. While reviewing my work, I hope that the
demonstration of my ethics and values as a social worker is evident in my writing. In
addition, although it did take some time and practice, I am hoping that my work also reflects
my improved skills as a writer.
