COLLABORATION

By Heather and Jessica

ENTRY LEVEL

ENVIRONMENT ARRANGED PURELY FOR GROUP

COLLABORATION
Students work on their own
using technology.

Teacher surveys how students work alone with technology.

ADOPTION LEVEL

ENVIRONMENT IS SET FOR STUDENTS TO BEGIN WORKING

IN GROUPS AND EXPLORING NEW TECHNOLOGIES.
Students are involved in some
group work, though minimal. This
can include emails or social media.

Teachers introduce the concept of

working with others in a technology
standpoint. This may include new
expectations and skill development.

ADAPTATION LEVEL

CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT INCLUDES PERMANENT

TECHNOLOGY AND OPPORTUNITIES TO HONE SKILLS.
Students have workstations that allow them
to work with peers on projects using
technology as a resource.

Teacher encourages students to try out the new skills they have
learned and explore what they help them accomplish.

INFUSION LEVEL

ENVIRONMENT IS SET FOR STUDENTS TO BEGIN WORKING

IN GROUPS AND EXPLORING NEW TECHNOLOGIES.
Students should becoming comfortable with the
use of technology. They begin to understand it is a
tool, and how to best use that tool. They can apply
their knowledge to specific lessons or ideas.

Teacher continues to encourage students to

use their technology resources and peer
collaboration, so they are able to make choices
about what technology works best for them.

TRANSFORMATION LEVEL
CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT INCLUDES ADVANCED
TECHNOLOGY AND CONSISTENT USE.
Students have technology
incorporated into their daily lives,
and know how to use their
resources in both education and
personal situations.

BIOLOGY EXAMPLE
Biology students can use technology to make a
website to describe genetic or infectious diseases.
The website can contain different pages for
symptoms, ways it is transmitted, information about
how it originated, or how many people in the world
it affects.

Teacher helps facilitate technology

use by providing experts or other
outside resources to challenge the
students to use technology outside
their comfort zones. This provides
them opportunities that only
technology can.

CONSUMER SCIENCE
EXAMPLE
Students will utilize Nutrient CalcPlus program to
track their daily intakes, and share their findings and
reflect on a classroom blog site such as Google
Blogger or Schoology. They could then collaborate in
a group to develop dietary recommendations in a
project format for the class.
