Vision Statement

Da Vinci said learning is the only thing the mind never exhausts, never fears, and never
regrets. (Chandler, 2015) As a future educator and a learner I believe this to be true. The mind is
highly susceptible to environmental influences-social, physical, cognitive, and emotional
(Jensen, 2005). Children will be altered by the experiences they have in school. The more than
thirteen thousand hours a child will spend in the presence of their teachers during their school
career will directly influence their outcome. That is why having learner centered knowledge,
designing learner centered instruction, and creating equity in excellence for all learners is
exceedingly important. As a lifelong learner my dreams continue to grow and expand. Upon
becoming a teacher my goal is to continue my education and progressively integrate technology
in my classroom. I plan to further develop my professional certification in related disciplines. I
am dedicated to my ultimate goal of constructing a program of support that connects the parents
of children in the same class as a community. I have a passion for working with not only the
student, but their family as well. I believe it is important to make connections with families and
the community of my students.
Life is dynamic, and the classroom should be too. Building creative and active learning
environments from scratch is my forte. I am committed to developing hands-on curriculum that
will make learning a fun adventure. Dedicated to using diverse strategies and technology that
encourages all learners, my classroom foundational structures are formed from the Cooperative
Learning Theory. This type of instruction provides students with positive interdependence,
individual accountability, equal participation, and simultaneous interaction (Kagan, 2009).

Vision Statement

Teaching in this manner allows for flexibility and freedom to educate linking ideas and content,
uses prior knowledge, and produces cohesiveness. My desire is to present innovative education
to students, in the hopes it will broaden their horizons and help them to realize their own dreams.
With technological advances the world is getting smaller, and our immediate population
is increasingly diverse. It is the educators responsibility to provide equity in excellence for all
learners. Increasing understanding and connectedness between cultures will improve the lives of
all students. The classroom today is not only recognized as culturally diverse, but diverse in
intelligences and learning styles as well. An excellent teacher accounts for the emotional,
sociological, physiological, psychological and environmental needs of all learners. I am
steadfast and unwavering in my beliefs that diversity is to be valued, and all students have
unlimited potential to learn.
