Designing Your Own Radio Show

First Ideas
Idea 1 Audience Based Show
Target Audience Younger generation aged 14-30. This is because it is an
interactive show that allows the audience to text or ring in song choices. This
target audience would respond best to this situation.
Purpose Its purpose would be to have a short period of time each day which is
dedicated to the listeners. Also there will be a short news section at the end,
which has a purpose of allowing the audience to text in informal news. For
instance the score of a local football match or local charity events.
Reason of choice Listeners always respond well to interactive shows on other
radio shows, and plus it gives a chance for listeners to get what they want.

Idea 2 Artist of the Week with Local News

Target Audience The younger generation aged 14-19. This is because it is
based on new and upcoming music but with a twist. The news section would also
be informative and formal,
Purpose Its purpose it to show a different side of music and to provide
knowledge of what is going on in the local area.
Reason of choice It is not something that has been done hugely before on other
radio shows.

Idea 3 World Wide News plus Discussion

Target Audience Intelligent listeners who want to understand what is going on
in the world. The Discussion would involve the presenters talking either between
each other or having a politician on the show. This would appeal to audiences as
they would want to see what important figure heads in society would have to say.
Purpose Its aim would be to be informative and provide multiple views on the
subjects discussed.
Reason of choice There are always constant updates on news around the world,
some of which will effect listeners.

Developing Our Chosen Idea Artist of the Week with

Local News
Our Final Idea
We discounted idea 3 on the basis that it would be a bit boring compared to the
other two. Also the target audience would be much smaller so the show might
not be very popular among the general public. So the final choice was between
ideas 1 and 2 but in the end we decided that a radio show shouldnt be fully
based on the audience choices because if the audience choose bad songs then
the popularity of the radio show may decrease among listeners. So this left us
with idea 2 which we thought which would appeal to younger listeners and it is
quite a new idea that not many, if any, radio shows currently do, so this will help
us attract listeners. It would consist of us as presenters picking 1 music artist
that are not hugely well known, in an attempt to widen the audiences music
variety.

Target Audience
The target audience for our radio show is teenagers who are interested not only
in new music but different versions of music which are less well-known. In order
to appeal to this target audience we will keep playing music at regular intervals
and we wont dwell on the same topic for too long because it is a well-known fact
that teenagers have short attention spans.
We will also include cover music of popular songs as well as original songs. This
can be our USP as to why people will listen to our show rather than the many
others which are on offer.

Intro
Welcome to Artist of the week, with me Ronan Kingsbury and Ben Bryden
Our artist of the week is Our Last Night who are an American post-hardcore band,
formed in 2004.
Oak Island is the fourth EP album released in November 2013. It follows-up the
band's previous release, Age of Ignorance. The album has two versions both
acoustic and nonacoustic.
The first song we are going to be playing is Same old war the acoustic version,
With over 700,000 views online its I song i believe needs to be heard, with both
acoustic and nonacoustic it suites your larger listening preferences.
Now its time for a cover. Originally by Taylor Swift, blank space has been turned
into Our last nights own style. .
There you have it, Blank space cover by our last night,

I think that this cover is better than the original, but that me what about you
Ben?

I agree, I get the impression that this is how the song was designed to be sung, it
now seems more of a rock song than a pop song, especially the ending.

Ok Ben, thank you for listening to todays artist of the week which was Our last
night, we will be on the same time next week.
